Which caliber would u choose and why?

The Dasher fans always come out of the closets.

If your want dasher performance then try a 6BRX. Better feeding and lab tests demonstrate that the 30d should has lower ES. BRX actually wins a higher percentage of matches then the dasher.

Oh my are you guys going to hate me for saying this. Lol and i am going to repeat what i said earlier. The Dasher has no accuracy advantage over any other 6BR bariant. Its just the most popular version because it has a cool sounding name.
No hate from me, but if you like fake wood trophies go with the Dasher. I don't know where you get your statistics, but there are MORE Dashers on the line, so I guess that a win with a BRX will translate to a higher percentage....dunno. Here are a few first place trophies that I have to thank the Dasher for. I shoot a single shot BR rifle so feeding is not an issue with me. Good shooting...James MockLong range trophies 002.JPG

I know a couple of top shooters and world record holders that have tried a BRX and they all went back to Dasher except one. The BRX has an advantage of slightly longer barrel life. Some of the top Dasher shooters are shooting 10 rounds in the 10 to 13 second range so I don't see feeding as an issue.

Grimstod do you shoot 1000 yard BR? I talk to most of the top shooters in the country a lot. I also watch all the results. I shoot at Williamsport and see 80 to 100 light guns every week. We also have 60 to 80 heavy guns. That is a lot of shooters and a lot of targets in a season. Then throw in the World Open when we have around 130 guns each class. Guys with good guns travel to this because of the prizes given out. That gives a good impression of what is used. Maybe you can show me where these BRX's are winning in 1000 yard BR. I may have missed it. Matt

From a technical standpoint the BRX has better capacity than a 6br, reaching the same Dasher nodes, with same bullets, but it's no more than a 6br-long. While a wildcat, it's not improved.

I'm sure the 40deg shoulder in the Dasher would prove to make it a little more efficient. This, due to better bottle-necking of the charge, which QL users should be familiar with in calibration(weighting factor). The greater % of powder burn kept inside the chamber, the greater the efficiency, lower the recoil, and likely more consistent barrel timing.
It also produces a little less need for body/shoulder sizing, and so it's working capacities would be easier to manage as consistent.

Call it conjecture,, and I can understand BRX users happy enough with their results. It's another great cartridge.
But it would be difficult for anybody to reason out a flaw or deficiency in the 6Dasher design.

I like the BRX a lot and shoot one for F but I think if it was definitely more accurate than a Dasher a few of the Benchrest world record holders that have replied to this thread would be shooting it.

Dashers dominate the 6mm class, plenty of load data to be found on this forum and others, easy to tune and very accurate.

I you should rethink what you said about ES. Single digit ES. is the norm with a Dasher and the ES of 1 and 2 are common. A lot more goes into low ES. than if it is a Dasher or a BRX. Barrel quality is more of a factor in which one shoots the best, and your ability to load them...... jim

+1 on what Johara stated. I believe a component of having a low extreme spread is a consistent bullet pull force. I understand that the Russian shooting teams test their bullet pull consistency. Bullet pull is related to neck tension and brass quality. One reason that I turn brass is to try and get consistent pull force. It may be wasted effort, but if it is only a psychological advantage, I will continue to do so. Good shooting...James Mock

But there is nothing about any cartridge that gives it better barrels or more consistent 'bullet pull'.
This is talk of one situation -vs- another instead of one cartridge design -vs -another.

I am needing someone to help persuade me into which caliber to chamber my kreiger 31" 6mm, 7.5 twist barrel for. This build is a light gun for 600yd but mostly 1000 yd benchrest matches. Part of me wants to be different and build a 6-6.5-47 bc of good parent case, brass, dies and improved ballistics over 6 dasher or 6 br improved which would be my next choices simply due to winning record and inherit accuracy and barrel life. So give me caliber choice and reasoning behind your choice. Thanks for help in advance.

6 Dasher, rules the roost..... For the type of shooting your going to do.
