Which 6.5mm bullet?

Yea I don't think any of those modern bullets will work. Back years ago, i was researching 140 grain bullets when there were almost none being built, and could not understand why Sierra would make a 140 grain 6.5 and 142 grain 6.5. I read up on the Sierra bullets and found that the Swede does not have enough twist for most of the VLD bullets. So they made a 140 that was shorter than the 142 VLD that would work in the slower twist Swede's. I don't know if the OP had an original barrel on his Swede, but if he does the twist is the determining factor.

I bought a box of 130s for my AR10 and had little luck. When i mentioned it online the rep asked if i worked up a load of just went with max. I replied that I started halfway between max and min and worked up till i got pressure. No more help was offered. i would really have liked to use them cause i have so much good luck with Berger's.

The Sierra game changer (Tgk) is essentially the same as the 130 tipped match king. If you can shoot better than those bullets in a sporter you are doing something right. I use the tgk because they work for groups and game.

I've already worked up loads using hunting bullets in my custom 6.5 Swede which will run about 1/2" @ 100 yds if I do my part. Just for fun, I'd like to see just how good I can get it to shoot using bullets with no regard to their hunting performance, just pure target bullets. 100 yards is all I'm interested in, no long range. Which bullets would you suggest?
Thanks
Phil
The 6.5 swede seems to prefer 130-140 and 140s the best for overall accuracy. My 6.5 creedy shoots well with 85+95 varmint bullets with its 8 twist up to the mid 140 weights, My 6.5 swede with the 7 1/4 twist will not. The swede did poorly with the lighter bullets, maybe just a twist issue. .Try Hornady#26335,their 140gr 264 dia H.P.B.T. match. These bullets have been accurate, reliable, and affordable. Mid south has them on sale now at 75/250. The 142gr Sierra H.P.B.T.s have also shot well but at almost twice the cost. 6.5 swedes also like H4831+RE22 powders, good luck

Been shooting 6.5 for a while

If it is only micro range like you are talking this may surprise you but in the 6.5 calibre Vmax if not try every light matchking or burger bullet you can find because you are shooting short distance work up a load I think you will be very happy

Anyone used the Sierra 150gn projectile? I don't hear much talk about them, only Berger 140VLD seem to be the go to bullet.

Sierra made the 140 MK long before the 142 was made. The Swedish military rifles have plenty of twist. I shot a M96 occasionally in LR competition with the now discontinued 155 MK; worked just fine, always averaged better than 9's off a sling @ 1000. Not bad for a 100 + year old rifle. The 142 replaced the 155 MK, having a better BC despite being lighter.

What is your bbl twist? Lapua Scenars 123g + 139g. shoot well. I use 123's in a 6.5 X 47 + 139's in 6.5 X 284. fwiw. You could reach out to 1/2 mile w the 139's, if that is possible where you shoot. I used to shoot at 100 yds, too. You might be pleasantly surprised what is possible at longer ranges.
