where to get barrel for 6bra

Ive got a savage 12 lrp in 65 cm. Still shoots great but I am interested in getting the 6bra. I started shooting 600 yd f-calss and this round looks like it is at the top of the pack.
Any one making barrels fpr it that would go on my savage.
thx

I had one made for a Savage Target action. So far fireforming has turned out to be not the easy process described here in the threads I've read.

For 600 yards I would just get a 6 BR norma.

If you're bound and determined like I was Dana English of English Rifles did mine. The barrel is a work of art and I'm pretty sure the fireforming problems I've had have been brought on by my own inexperience.

There is also a gentleman who goes by skeetlee here. PM him and I think he'll do one.

If you want a 6BRA you will almost surely have to get a blank and have it chambered by someone who already has a reamer. For that you will just have to check around and find our who has one.
What you probably should consider is just how much you are willing to pay to have a BRA over a 6BR and how much you are willing to pay for a small % in likely accuracy. You can get a Criterion, Shilen or Pac Nor (IIRC) maybe a few other, pre-chambered for your Savage, for a little over $300. It will shoot just fine and you will like it a lot. A new blank plus the going rate for chambering could almost double that. Consider also the cost of custom dies for the BRA as well.

Mike at, Bryant Customs, HAS 2 Reamers, in 6BR Norma, a .265 dia. and .271 dia Neck size and many NAME Brand, Barrels in stock to choose from ( at reasonable prices that, saves Shipping, costs ) Tell him, Doug @ Idaho Lefty, has sent you. Mike is a NICE Guy !
He will be doing my next Build. Usually, his "Lead Times" are,..reasonable ! He build's many, many, accurate Target Rifles,.. About $700 + or - for, a great Rifle bbl and Chambering. Check his Web site ! 6BR Norma, saves some "headaches" !

I’m having trouble visualizing a 246 neck diameter for a 243 bullet??

Solid advice right here.

I would try Southern Precision. He has Bartlein Savage blanks ready to chamber. Don't know if he has a BRA reamer, but I would not be surprised.

Caleb Morris at Alpha & Omega built my 6BRA. Shoots great. You can find him on Facebook or pm me for his phone number. He is in Missouri.

Thanks for help. Really appreciate help.

Appreciate the info. Out of the 6br and 6xc which is better performer. I like to shoot to 1000 yds. Best availability for brass, dies etc. And ease of working up loads.

I think the 6BR is your Huckleberry. A $300 Crterion will do what you want. Just my opinion but I think the others will cost about double once you include chambering costs, dies & brass.

The straight BR is a tried and true winner. I have a BRA and will likely buy a 6BR when my 6.5 Creedmoor barrel is shot out in my LRP. Sinarms has a Brux 6BR “Bull” barrel for $460. That’s without nut and lug.

I’ve decided against the 6bra. Don’t want to spend time fire forming brass. I’m trying to decide between the 6br or 6xc.. probably go with criterion since I’m shooting the 12 lrp
