I'm sure they could, if they are willing to order a 4'x8' sheet of AR 500 plate. As far as that goes I have a torch and a plasma cutter I guess I could have cut my own. But what would I do with the rest of the plate? I'm going to go out on a limb and say you can't beat Field and Caves price or quality.

For the most part, the 3/8” AR500 rounds are laser cut from side drops of industrial recycling screens. When the plate is clean and the machine is in tune, it makes a beautiful cut. This isn’t always the case, but it usually is. The best part is the targets don’t have to carry the entire burden of the parent plate from which they are cut. If they did, we couldn’t sell them at the prices we do.

Well I have a Round Plate 1” thick 10 or 12” Dia. Very Hard and impossible to Drill .

I did some testing with American vs foreign AR500 and found there is a definite difference in quality. The test was done at 100 yards with M855 5.56 ammo out of a 16" barrel. The American steel was slightly dimpled and the foreign steel was chipped every time. I would say that ALL of the discount steel you see advertised is foreign steel and while it works OK for most target applications it will definitely take on more damage resulting in a shorter service life.
