Where do you aim on BR Group Target?

looks like your doing well but it could be below your expectations it would suit me for sure bugholes are best!
That was for load development a few months ago, I've never had such calm conditions while shooting in all my life. Most definitely happy with it, I just want to see if I can squeeze anymore accuracy out of it, by fixing something I'm doing at the bench.

knowing yourself if rifle is correct, I think a lot of people that shoot anything go blank for a few milliseconds sometimes, it can happen to anyone and be minute, trigger control eye coordination is my key, and knowing what I did between the 2 if shot errs, some have it some don't I'm iffy

What a great thread subject with some terrific replies! Thanks to the OP for asking about this subject and thanks to all that replied. Years and years ago I used the bull and box for just messing around and I always just shot at the center bull. It worked okay until you had a couple of hits in the bull and lost the aiming point. At that time I didn't understand the mechanics of a true BR target for group shooting. Then a crusty old guy told me about aiming at the corners of the box and that was way better for many years. Then a few months ago I was messing around just shooting random groups at a bull and box target and everything was pretty much shot up so just for grins I leveled down on the very bottom of the bull at the apex if you will and I'll be darned if my groups didn't improve! Since then I have used the top of the bull and sides, but for some odd reason the bottom works best for me. I don't quite understand why the bottom works best, but it does.

Thanks to all for the information. Wish I had this about 35 years ago.

I've always thought that if you try to fit crosshairs side and bottom to a corner then you have 2 places you have to jumble, I tried it for a bit then just went the bullet hole method but dot in the top curve of the hole was much easier, but I still see my movement it being minute but still I would love to be steady but it aint gonna happen I know I move .125 some, the man that moves .0 is the man to beat that reads the wind

Do Like that in my picture here
it's actually a good question where to aim since
--- some guys would try to put the center of their cross hair right in the middle
but by doing so there is no real defined aiming point to line your crosshairs up to
you would be putting the center of the crosshair in open space and the lines whould not line up with anything.
---
Also, you can aim at the corners of the square if you want - for practicing
but not for group, since if you shoot into the black, you cannot see your holes
Secondly, in my picture is how you would want to align your crosshairs onto a circle
---
Notice, the X and Y planes of the crosshair just baaaaaarely hold off a hair, without the crosshair actually touching the line, you are lining the edge of the crosshair up with the edge of the circle
---and not using the center of the crosshairs
You want to put the smallest amount of white paper between your crosshairs and the black circle
since - if you put your black crosshairs, touching the black lines, you could be into the line 1/32", 1/16"???
and not know it
but if you want to shoot the teensiest groups you can, you want to hold off just the smallest amount your eye can perceive
that way you know you are aiming in the exact same spot every time
then, you adjust your dials to place POI where you want it which is usually not where your POA is because of course then again, if your POA = POI and you make a black hole,
it is hard to hold the black reticle in the center of a black hole with thousandths precision.
---
the center of the crosshair is for shooting your bullets into your buddies group, thats a good time :P
I kind of do the same thing, but with the outside corner of the square. I know it's a lot of distance between my POA and POI, (mothball) but it is consistent. When it is windy I just move the crosshair into the wind but along the lines of the square. I usually take a practice shot on my practice target to see what the conditions do to the shot and change with conditions as they do.

That's a good idea too, a square and its corner is definitely easier to line up the lines of the crosshairs to
