Where can I get Quickload?

Hi All,

Quickload's website says they do not sell to North America. Is it possible for me purchase it somewhere in the US?

Thanks

I think it's important to understand which website works for which country.

The company website is a world website with the variances for each group or individual countries. The software was originally developed in Germany.

The U.S. distributor is Neco as posted above. You can order the newest full version of Quickload or if you already have a version but require an update, you can order that as well.

To bad they do not have it for the MAC.

I've been running QuickLoad on Mac for years. All you need is any decent form of PC emulation software. There are several types available as freeware. I chose to buy a copy of "Crossover", and it works just fine.

I run it on a Mac as well. I use wine, which is free. Wine is an emulator that allows you to run windows programs on non windows computers. Wine is not for novices. If that’s you, it’s better to spring for crossover, which is a commercially supported version of wine. It’s cheap and it doesn’t require a copy of windows.

That said, quickload is about 20 years behind the times as far as software goes. It’s annoying, but until someone else makes something to compete with it, we’re stuck.

When they were done developing Wine, it became Crossover. It's the same program, but Crossover is finished.

After a fast search, it doesn't look to me like Quickload is the only ballistic software available for the mac.

Not exactly. Wine is open source. It is what it is, bugs, quirks, and all. It relies on volunteers to develop and maintain it. You’re on your own if you use it, but hey, it’s free.

Crossover took wine and made it user friendly, and offers support (and charges for their version). Both coexist and are under continuous development, but at the core they’re the same thing.

I’m not aware of any hobby-grade internal ballistics program for Mac (or anything else for that matter) other than quickload? Could you be more specific? I’d use something else in a heartbeat if I could find it, assuming it’s as good.

There's a big difference between a simple ballistics calculator and something like Quickload (a programme that looks at the internal combustion ballistics of a case, powder, projectile and barrel).

If you say so.

A few posts ago, people were talking about how out of date it is. iOS programs probably aren't out of date, and the explosion of mac ballistic calculators means there's probably more programs that a guy like me doesn't know how to find.

Any of those ballistic calculators take into account powder burn rates from different lots and different case capacities to predict velocity for a certain load combination?

funny thing: I googled quickload, and it took me to quickload.co.uk and prompted my question.

No idea how good it is, I've just glanced at it. I just searched for ballistic software mac and found these. There is more, searching for iphone produces several more that don't run on a computer.

I don't think you understand what I'm asking for. I've got apps on my phone for ballistics and I use JBM on my computer. That's a whole different ball of wax than Quickload which is for internal ballistics; what happens inside the case. The most basic use is to derive loads with different powders than the one you are currently using.

After looking into this a little, I'm not sure I want to spend my money this way. neconos.com is in the same generation as Quickload: the 90s, and I don't appreciate the apparent neglect this product is treated with and then has a 150+ pricetag attached. I'll go buy some more powder and bullets and go shooting; I don't need to play on the computer.

Internal ballistics havent changed. It works fine. Its not xbox easy but it has the latest powders and bullets in there not stuck in the 90’s except the platform.

I'm pretty offended by the software interface and the neconos website. It's clear they aren't developing this software anymore, just providing new libraries, and the webpage is a time capsule. Its just not what I (or many, I suspect) expect for 150 bucks.

Try it youll like it. Sure its old tech but it works. With them being the only game in town i suspect itll stay that way. Truthfully youre the only boycotter ive ever heard of.
