Where all all the shooters???

Are those horseshoe shape benches common. Looks like the opening in the center would allow your cases to roll off and fall to the ground.

Biggest thing I see in BR is time and money, hey” give people a couple months off a 10k setup and supplies to go with it and attendance should rise until they get their butts handed to them crushing their delicate ego therefore sending grown men sniveling & whimpering home to loved ones for soup, sandwich and convalescence recovery all while plotting Revenge!:mad:

LOL! Some matches I am well prepared, confident, and win stuff. Other matches I am just there so my fellow competitors will have someone to beat. Then again, losing to people you like isn't the worst thing..................

Benchrest is not for everyone. In fact its not for most. As older shooters start to retire the newer ones are just not filling their shoes. Part of it is there are a lot more options today than 20 or 30 years ago. Another part of it is most have never heard of BR and if they have they have very inaccurate views on what it really is. We have done a poor job of exposing people to it. Two things I think we have to do is avoid changing the game in hopes to attract new shooters, because you upset the older ones and it doesnt work anyhow. And have fun, its a sport that gets taken very seriously and sometime we forget its fun. In reality we mostly go to enjoy the company. I dont think many would do this if there was no one to compete with. In LR we now have so many sanctioning bodies Im loosing count, we are not stronger divided in my opinion.

Alex,

You certainly do your part. Instead of insisting that I by a complete rifle from you, you are happy to sell me a stock and then even help me as I inlet the stock and chamber my own barrel. And to your point, the people we compete with are indeed top notch.

Alex you are very correct that we do not get stronger by being divided, I feel any growing that amounts to much will be accomplished thru local club competition, low keyed and new shooter friendly as opposed to more intense competition and bigger events. A friend I have been chasing for 20 yrs to finally started 2 years ago. He has moved from club ground hog shoots to 1000 steel in the last 2 years. Last fall I took him to a1000 yd range and left him shoot paper, he surprised us borh with how well he did. Now this year he asked me last week when is the first 1000yd paper match. If we keep at it we can make some headway or we can just make excuses. Its up to us.
