When will Primers Be Available ?

My personal thought is there is such a run on ammo and fire arms that the makers are using them for ammo. Use them where the profit is. When gun sales and ammo sales slow down they will be back.
Hopefully

I’m also thinking there’s going to be a lot of used unfired guns for sale.

I hate to be a "Suspicious Sam" type, but sometimes I wonder if they are being held back to drive up prices. Or maybe there IS just too much demand, who knows.

AFAIK, production rates have remained unchanged, while demand has skyrocketed. Seems to be entirely due to hoarding mentality. Very unfortunate.

A friend pretty high up at ____ told me 100% of primer production is going towards loaded ammo.
They are over a year backordered on the most popular ammo(s), so he doesn't expect to see a change
anytime soon.

Found these today coming home from vacation. Small shop only had this box out, didn’t dare ask if he had any more. Paid my money and probably danced on the way out.

You are spot on!... I live in Lewiston Idaho where they make most of your favorite primers and use to work for them back in the first ammo scare from 09-15. They are working around the clock, unlimited overtime!... my gf works there in Centerfire assembly and there using almost every primer they produce on there own products!.... people like me who have lived through several of these shortages have learned to “ HOARD” as you all like to call it when times are good so we don’t runout in times like these!... for you newer shooters out there let this be a lessen..... when the shelves are full again and they will be if the right man gets “re-elected”
Instead of thinking you need friends over for a barbecue or you think you need to fill your 150 gallon jet boat up for a Sunday day of fun buy some components instead! But I can almost guarantee you won’t see much powder of the sought after kind, or primers until minimum first of the year!... I stopped at a local hardware store after work tonight for a flat file and walked out with 2lbs each of H4350 RL 16-23-and 26 tonight so it does trickle in but you can’t hesitate 3 cans of the H4350 walked out as I walked in.

They were sure proud of them, weren’t they....

I saw on gunbroker tonight H 4350.....$150 for a 1 lb can!....and many more items for sale at ridiculous inflated prices!.... I wouldn’t have the gut to gouge someone like that!...

Looks like the great recession all over. Sorry for you new guys. Hope you old timers didn't get fooled again.
If the correct person gets reelected, this could end in a few months. If it goes wrong, you might be lucky to be out, rather than have them confiscated. Or as the old NRA line says: When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

I have enough srp to last me until President TRUMP gets out of office in 2024. I'm sure before then I'll get some more and at a reasonable price.

Nobody has the kind of cash sitting around to purposely slow shipments and force higher prices. If it can be sold, they will try to make it and convert it to cash ASAP. I don’t believe the base manufacturer prices have changed.

I think the run on production ammo is the beginning reason, which was immediately exacerbated by reaction buying. Handloading components are being made and shipped but at reduced volume and competitive shooters are buying more than usual when they see it.

One of my local gun shops told me that his supply rep told him not to look for any restock primers until February. He has 50k of various types on backorder.

Same as with my LGS. The owners have told me that their distributors have said not to look for “Real” numbers of primers any time soon.
