When To Change the Firing Pin Spring

How far are you deflecting the spring to get the reading? 1/8"? 1/4"?

I realize there isn't a lot of throw available in the shroud. Maybe I could make a tool...

You need to deflect it to around the same area the cocking piece sits when ready to fire in relation to the shroud. You can see where it sits when fully assembled and ready to fire. Pushing it farther gives a false reading because youre compressing the spring more than normal

Defiance ships their actions with a 24lb spring unless you request the 18lb spring. I have a Deviant action with more than 2500 rds and it is still fine, but you can replace it to eliminate that as a cause.
Maybe try different primer? Also, check the headspace if you can. Try a different trigger?
Wolff makes a 32lb Remy spring which should fit and maybe help the trigger. Do you really think the trigger the problem? I'm gonna give it a good cleaning and check it before I change anything.

Have you actually measured your spring pressure (properly) yet? Assuming its still in the 20s, I would first look harder at your headspace, and strip the bolt and clean it out and grease it properly as suggested. If you have any dirt or crud in there that can and will cause issues. It could also help to post pictures of your primers with what you're calling light strikes. (And one you're calling normal for reference)

It can be but I would work the spring first and then try another trigger after you’ve checked everything else. Headspace could be an issue too. Light strikes happened to me while fireforming 6BRA brass due to headspace.

Have you ever lifted a remington bolt with even a 24lb spring? Wowzers its tuff.

I check it according to the bolt drop method with the ejector removed...ever so slight tension on the handle drop. 1.4715 for a 6.5x47
