Ever since the virus appeared, the shelves in my part, SW, of the country have been bare. The major gun shops in the country are all on back order. Do you think ammo will re appear before the election? One of my shooting friends says that the ammo isn't getting from the manufacturers to the distributors because of the virus. Do you have any thoughts on this? This is mainly for hand gun and .22 ammo.

I am only assuming this but with somewhere around tn million guns sold, since the virus and the riots in many of the large cities, these new gun owners are buying it up. Since most of the purchases are handguns and shotguns, along with AR's, I bet that's where the shortage is.
I wonder if hunting ammo is in short supply. I suspect there is plenty of that left.
Many popular brands of powder are also in sort supply. Which leads me to believe hand loaders are panic buying, to make sure, they have their go to powder, on hand.
Early on, my local gun store, started selling one box to each of those who bought firearms, realizing if he did not have ammo on hand, he could not sell the guns.
I recently bought a .22 caliber rifle for benchrest shooting. I have had no problem obtaining any brand of ammo for it. I recently bought 15 different types for it to see what it wanted to shoot. When I found what it shot best, I bought four bricks for the normal price, so I assume there is no run on it at this time.

What's worse than no ammo on shelves, is when the little family owned reloading shop shuts down and disappears.
