whats this bluedot like in the 6br

Yes, it certainly is a shotgun and magnum pistol powder, very fast burning, and even when "properly" loaded according to some of the loading manuals, some really nasty results can happen from extreme pressures. Loading it in a rifle ctg. would be like creating a bomb! Wow! where did this idea even come from? :(

The Calhoon gentleman was one of the guys that posted data for a reduced .223 load using light bullets, and the Bluedot powder.

Not sure what you're going to get trying Bluedot in a 6BR?

niceone: Now I'm thoroughly confused. Are you saying Blue Dot is a tested and approved powder for use in the 6BR? If so, can you quote the publication? From the 49 th edition of the Lyman Reloading Manual, page 67: Blue Dot A slow burning magnum handgun propellant, Blue Dot sees limited applications. In Hodgdons and Lyman's burn rate chart it is next to or close to 2400, and all the other powders that are intended for handgun loads, or as in the Calhoun article, very small capacity rifle cases, like the 22 Hornet, etc. I fail to see any connection between the 6BR and these other cartridges.

to the man above thanks for your reply but as i say i know NOWT about it and i do and i have not used it nor do i accept any responsibility for whatever damage caused by those who use it, it was mentioned to me by a 3rd party and it sounded interesting stuff

No one in there right mind would use Blue Dot in a 6br for anything....
Load some up in a 6br case and see for yourself how interesting it will get ....

Bluedot is an excellent choice for reduced loads. Main issue loading bluedot load density as it allows you to double charge your cases. DO NOT DOUBLE CHARGE YOUR CASES!! I have never used it in a 6BR but it works fantastic in 223 bolt rifles. 13.5gr of Bluedot and 52gr A-Max bullets is what I shoot from my Remmy PSS and may really surprise some of the more apprehensive.

Here are a couple samples of BlueDot in the 6BR run thru QuickLoad.
Don't know how good your results are going to be with these loads.

"To whom it may concern/ Anyone who is inclined to try it": It's your rifle, hands, fingers and eyes: do whatever you want with it.

Pistol powders, such as Bluedot, are used to fireform brass in wildcat rifles. Very fast burning,
so let common sense prevail. Be very careful with it.

Gary.

Steve here... I can't comment on using Blue dot. But Pistol and shotgun powders in small quantities are very common with cast bullet shooters.
