One of the neat things I like to do when people load pictures on this site is to blow them up and see all the stuff in the background. As for your scope pictures, the first one lets the viewer see some of your books behind. Blowing it up, I can recognize some volumes in your collection that I am familiar with such as:dixieppc said:Well, I got my SIII1050X60LRTD in and mounted but not shot yet. You have a good eye, Charles. Or, you got one hell of a sharp computer screen. But then, I do most of my online stuff with a little laptop and/or smartphone. A little history behind the ones you specifically mentioned.charlesbr said:One of the neat things I like to do when people load pictures on this site is to blow them up and see all the stuff in the background. * Safari Club International Record Book of Troohy Animals
* The Benchrest Shooting Primer
* Tony Boyer's Book of Rifle Accuracy
* Mike Ratigan's Extreme Rifle Accuracy
* Carlos Hatcock's Marine Sniper
* Jim Carmichel's Just Jim
* Glenn Newick's Ultimate Rifle Accuracy
I'll bet there is a story behind some of the older ones.

Optics Planet's Ebay store. They got them on there from <>$850 all the way up to their retail price of <>$1200 with most of them falling in the <>$950 range for the same model scope so go figure how they determine what to charge for each individual scope. Their Ebay site does seem to be very dynamic as the prices are coming and going in real time. Just a guess, but I'm wondering if the <>$850 scopes were counter demo models being sold as NIB? I don't really care as long as mine comes in NIB Mint condition, ie. I don't care if a bunch of people have handled it and looked through it.queen_stick said:charlesbr said:Placed an order today for a brand new Sightron SIII 10-50x for less that $850.\

My scope got here today. Looks good but my rings are still out there somewhere in Postal Service Hell so will have to wait until they get here, if ever, to see how well the scope works. As to the ongoing discussion as to what does and what does not come with their scope, this one came with a scope coat, not the lens caps the Sightron website says is suppose to come with it. I would rather had the advertised lens caps over this scope coat but its better than getting nothing like some folks say happened to them. There was also a lens tissue and manual but no allen wrench which I also have been told should have come with it. But I got allen wrenches running out my butt so no problem. Reading posts on here and other shooting sites about the stiffness of the side focus, I agree, mine is major stiff. Stiff enough to upset the gun on the rest while adjusting.charlesbr said:Placed an order today for a brand new Sightron SIII 10-50x for less that $850. It's so amazing to see some of the "Big" shooting supply outlets still advertizing them for $1200-$1300. Don't know what's going on but I took advantage of it. It will also be interesting to see what accessories come with it since that also seems to be a hit and miss trick. I went on the Sightron site and it says that this scope comes with lens caps but according to posts on this forum, you might get them and then again, you might not. Just wonder if some of the distributers that are selling these for $850 aren't robbing the boxes of the accessories advertized on the Sightron site as coming with the scope?

My new Sightron 10-50 power came with nothing in the box but a little folded piece of paper they called a manual. Their website says it was suppose to come with lens caps. I went on and ordered a custom set of leather caps for it. On another note, I like the scope.bdale said:I think alot of this type of stuff is drop shipped from different distributors, I think Sightron should step up and dictate what goes with each scope shipped :![]()
I have two 10-50's w/dot reticle and love them, I am now looking for one with the Hash mark reticle. I would appreciate it if you could point me to the ridiculously low price ones. Bobcharlesbr said:I have been leaning toward investing in a Sightron SIII 50X Variable. However, I am a bit concerned to see a whole bunch of them starting to show up for sale at ridiculously low prices for advertised mint condition low mileage and even NIB scopes. I love these prices but it makes me feel as though they are being dumped at real low prices for some possible issues with that specific model.
Not trying to start a flame war, just voicing an observation that has me concerned about buying one.
