What would you do?

Molded-in finishes are not perfect as an industry standard. Here is another popular stock maker's take on the issue:

Molded in Colors and Finishes

McMillan’s molded in finishes feature color that is impregnated into the exterior layer of the stock. All of the molded in finishes below should be considered a utility-grade. Mold lines, sanding marks, fiberglass/carbon fiber cloth and small imperfections may be visible.

“Minor imperfections” in the stock is one thing. Human or animal hair under the clear coat is another. That is not an imperfection in the stock. That is a mistake that was man made during the finish and was very poor QC cause you know damn well they saw it and just let it flow without fixing it.

I don’t believe in smoke and mirrors.
Reading is not smoke and mirrors. Don't like it, don't order one. But having owned half a dozen of these, they will all have scratches and pinholes. McMillan molded-in stocks are the same way.

It is all relative. They should post pictures of examples of what they consider “minor imperfections” and include a picture of this stock of it fits the description. Otherwise, the onus is on them to satisfy their customer since they give such as vague description.

I will add that I expect that they will make it right since they have a stellar reputation.

Well, the OP didn’t bother to even noticed that on their page about finished and he’s claiming it is a black painted stock, despite obviously being a carbon/camo stock. When in doubt, call and ask.

Alright it has been resolved. Called Tom up and he said that it’s not a minuscule thing and it should have been caught in final check. He explained that it’s a piece of horsehair from the brush they put the gel coat on with. He is sending a return label and says he will get it back to 110% perfect. Thanks for all of the opinions and recommendations.
