What "toolbox" do you carry to the range

A NRA Silhouette rifle shooter here....Usually carry two rifles to the Silhouette match.

If toolbox is a good description of what you carry your gear in....What "toolbox" do you carry to the range? Might also ask what tools you feel should be with you on a trip to the range or a match.

My High Power guns (Standard and Hunter) are based on Rem 700s and my Smallbore guns (Standard and Hunter) are Anschutz - if this makes any difference.....

Thanks for your thoughts...... :)

MTM Range Box. It has cleaning props in the bottom and lotsa tool space up top. I carry all my cleaning fluids in the bottom (get Sinclair short bottles) and up top I have jags, patches, Lee Hand loader for the Redding seater die, etc. Great box and it's about $45 from Amazon.

I use two of the soft sided tool box to carry my gear back and forth to the line (rear bag, ammo, timer, clipboard, etc). Just like this from Lowes for under 20$.

The tools I carry with to a match I keep in a little Rubbermaid tote that fits in one of the bags. A screwdriver with interchangeable tips (torx, straight, hex, etc) and bolt grease are the important tools to bring with.. If I cant fix with that, its too fubar for fixing it at a match. Always bring a cleaning rod to a match, a chamber cleaning tool & a can of brake kleen..

Hope this helps

I like the Midway Range Box. Only problem is that it is soo large that you can fill it to the point it is a bear to carry. Aways have a set of appropriate wrenches and a screwdriver set with all the interchangeable bits. and cleaning supplies for all and sundry.

I also shoot Schuetzen and have a Kennedy Machinist's tool box with all the dedicated tools, plus firing-line reloading set up for that game.

Then too, I have lovely mahogany pistol box (styled after a Pachmeyer) which I found on ebay a few years back. this has just what I take for short arm work at the range (ammo, ear and eye protection, a couple of screw drivers and my .22 conversion kit.) It also has a built in scope mount for the spotting scope which stays in that box.

Good stuff. I wll probably try the MTM box first as I have some of their other products and find them to be good quality and well thought out.

Thanks for the answers!

Range "bag". Eye and ear protection. Stapler for targets. Small tools as needed. Bolt tool as needed.
Broken case extractors for the calibers I'am shooting. (I don't load at the range) Rags and cleaning tools/chemicals as needed.

I bought a tool bag at Harbor Freight.
When I got it home, I cut a piece of 1/2 plywood for the bottom for support, that way the bottom does not sag. Has many of pockets for tools, clips, etc.

I carry very minimal tools to the range. I do not believe the range is the place to work on guns. If I have an issue, I always have more than one gun. I have a shop at the house rigged for gun trauma, loosing parts at the range would be foolish. I am fortunate in that I serve as range and trash master at a private range, I’m retired so I’m there very frequently. Malfunction guns go to the trauma center and I switch guns.

I use a plastic fishing tackle box.
The only tools i bring to the range is a small 1/4" drive ratchet set that has all the screwdriver & torx bits with it.
That & my "Fat Wrench".
All the bits from the rachet set fit into the fat wrench.

Anything beyond a loose screw on the scope or action goes back home.

Not much. Basic cleaning items (rod, brushes, jags, patches, chems). No real "tools" beyond that. Of course, if anything serious beyond a simple cleaning goes wrong, I'm done. I'm okay with that. I don't do load tweaking at the range, and I don't compete, so it doesn't matter much.
