What to fill Caldwell Tack Driver Bag With ?

Whats good to fill a Caldwell Tack Driver bag with, I am thinking sand would be to heavy. Any info appreciated.

Zircon sand is the heaviest by volume 98% heavier than play sand, followed by Chromite which is 94% heavier. You can purchase it many places including Amazon.

I have two ,one with corn media and one with sand . I prefer the corn . Sand is too hard and the bag is not strong enough to hold good form filled with the sand . Just my experience . Sometimes heavier is not better , it was hard for me to be convinced of this.

I use airsoft beads on the lightweight bags and paver sand for anything that needs weight

If you use corn, rice or beans don’t let it get wet. A friend of mine left his out on his deck and it rained. He told me it swelled up like a tick.

I've used uncooked rice in a couple bags, seems to pack almost as good as sand but not the weight. Very stable for my uses but not for any big bore rifles.

If you want to go lighter, lightweight cat litter works well. I have used it in a couple of front bags and it works well - light but does not compress.

Steel cut oats. That was the wife's idea as we looked for a fill with lightweight properties for field use. We tries about about a half dozen different things including sand when she got the oates idea. You can buy a big bag for almost nothing at some of the bulk grocery markets.

Sewing stores have weighted poly beads for making weighted blankets, similar to air soft beads but heavier. I've also wondered if the regrind they use for artificial turf sporting fields might be a good alternative. I believe it's reground rubber of some sort so it should be reasonably heavy.

I went to JoAnn Fabricates and they had the plastic beads. I needed about 14 to 16 lbs so I went to ebay. You get more for the money and they're cheaper on ebay.

These work great. No worries about the weather, rodents, etc.
