What to do with Nightforce?

I have a Nxs that doesn’t track correctly on the elevation anymore. I sent it in, a little anxious what they were going to say as I’ve read numerous times that they think their don’t stink. Sure enough, I got a call today, they are sending it back, said there is nothing wrong with it, it passed all their tests. Question is, what do I do if I get it back and it still don’t work? Is there anyone else that works on Nightforce? Send it back to them with video and pictures?

Bro , I was at a match in2020 and a storm was rolling in and I decided to move my rifle more under the canopy of the line . Well my rifle fell off the bench and landed straight on the elev knob . Smashed it to the next county . Called nightforce and told what happened and received a rma number, told them it was a salvage mission and send me the bill. Well I got my 12x42x56 br scope back with a note that said scope was found with no problems , good to go . Scope is fine , it sits on a 30br now.

A lot of us have scratched our heads after getting back a scope that we sent in. It seems some manufacturers disassemble and service the scope before reassembling a checking it. My personal guess is that the process fixes the scope before they even bother testing it.

No matter what they tell me, the scope is always fixed when it comes back. Since a good scope is the goal, I'll take it.

I agree with your comment!!!

Sent one in 3ish years ago that quit tracking completely. Got it back saying nothijg was wrong. Same story I hear over and over. Thats bad practice as I have used it nearly none since and have lost all faith in the scope. I want to know you fixed it not tell me there was no issue. How do I compete with a scope I know is bad and I am told its fine (fixed or not). I get mechanical things fail... I just need to know they did indeed fail and were indeed fixed for peace of mind.
Lots of good scope companies these days so that personally pushes me away.

Glock an NF share this trait. You send a Glock back, they find nothing wrong but replace all of the internals, and the problem is fixed.

Sneaky way to not say their products have issues, at times. Just repair what went wrong and return the scope with comment nothing wrong with it.

I have sent both of my competition scopes in & got the same response, NO DEFECT FOUND, Both worked just fine when I mounted them up!

I agree 100% Keith.

A few days ago I thought I was going to have to try out my first NF warranty on my nxs 4.5-15. I had an 'accident' I not gonna talk about but in process I nearly tore the scope off my Mod7 receiver! the 2 front steel warne rail screws were sheared off and the back rail was twisted to 30 degrees. The scope suffered zero damage! It was in a heavy scope coat so not even a scratch to boot. Time to drill tap the receiver for some beefier screws! Not sure how many other scopes are made that tough. I guess thats how they need to be to survive military use.
On another note last year I scraped my battery lid on my 12-42 br and called NF to get another. Ring answer no problem give me your address and we'll send you a replacement bye. Got it 2 days later 2nd day fedex. No charge.
I have had 4 NF's and no tracking issues.

While not anywhere near the quality of Night force, I had a Bushnell Elite (their top line Elite) that went bad on me last year. I send it back and they claimed that they "fixed it" but either they didn't fix it, or the "fix" was inadequate because the scope still had the same problem. The scope now sits in the closet. Every time I look at it, I have to have 3 fingers of Maker's Mark. For me, $600+ (2005 money) is a lot of money. Even worse, it was mounted on my prime varmint rifle and went south during varmint season.

Tracking should be easy to check with a scale at 100 yards so you can verify the "fix" when returned. Regardless of what they tell you, if it works that's all that is important. I would rather they tell me it was fine as is then they fix it without acknowledging the fix rather than in my case when they said they fixed it, but it was still defective. When returned, if yours is still defective, try my Maker's Mark remedy.

Tracking is one thing but does it hold POI? Which is pretty important to most shooting disciplines. Only way to tell is shoot enough groups and if you get consistent wide ones send pics of the targets in and ask them to disassemble it and fix the erector tube supports and springs.

I remember the empty feeling in my gut when I witnessed that. I never knew NF’s response. Baffling behavior for sure, but I suppose it makes sense to them somehow. Glad you got it back and they treated you right.

I suspect the OP’s scope will be fine, even though there was nothing wrong with it in the first place. LOL.

Yes, it does seem to hold once you finally get it there.

That’s just an assumption, do you have any facts to support your claim ?
They have done the same to me and multiple shooters I know. I solved it, I got rid of all my NF about 15 years ago and have never looked back. In my world that is being deceitful. I don't care to deal with that. So the last dozen scopes I bought are other brands. Those companies have all been up front when I returned a scope, they will continue to receive my business. The shame is NF makes a good product they don't need to operate in this manner.
