What to do now?

Ok fella's built this little project rifle not my first on a Mauser action so I think I may have gotten comfortable and didn't pay as close of attention as I should have! I was sighting in the new rifle after I got it totally completed and I ran out of adjustment with the scope! I'm thinking when I drilled and tapped the holes I could have gotten off a thou or so now I don't have enough windage adjustment in the scope. Now this scope is a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18 mounted on a Ken farrell +20 base, I originally got everything set up using my Super Sniper scope and had no issue with windage, I'm thinking that I need to get another scope with more adjustment to overcome my brain fart of drilling holes in a straight line! does this sound about right to you guys? Thanks in advance for your help. Later,

Kirk

If you did not use the same rings that may be the problem. I've had Weaver style rings where the threads for the tensioning screw were taped on the wrong side. Also, if you have not lapped the rings that could contribute. I second the Zee style rings - they're great.

The rings are Warne and yes they were lapped, that's a given. I've never used the Burris rings are they pretty robust? main reason I use the Farrell bases and Warne rings is they are just strong as all get out. I'll look into the Burris rings and bases since my budget is not as good as it was this time last year gotta watch those $! Thanks for the advise fella's. Later,

Kirk

No need to change the base, the Burris Signature rings are Weaver specific.....
I use nothing but them on everything I have scoped these days, they do a very nice job...

So they will work on a picatinny style base? and how would another set of rings cure the problem? would it not have to have an adjustable base like the Leupold bases? please don't think I'm stupid I just have my bases and rings I like and don't pay much attention to the others. Later,

Kirk

gunamonth, thank you for the link it makes perfect sense now! kinda like shimming a scope base. I mat have to purchase a set and some offsets and I get to keep by +20MOA base since I'll have to have it for the ranges I'm shooting. Fella's thank you very much but now I don't have an excuse to use on the girlfriend so I can get a new scope. Much thanks! Later,

Kirk

Truth I don't have a problem with the girlfriend the problem is me turning loose of money! I'll admit it I'm a tightwad it just sounds better to say the girlfriend than to say I'm cheap and don't want to spend the money :o Later,

Got the Burris Zee rings and problem solved! the .005 sleeves worked but I eneded up going with the .010 sleeves just to get the scope closer to center. Again fell's I can't thank you enough for pointing me to the Zee rings! Later,

Kirk
