What the pros use

It was meant to be polarizing.
I do not lookdown at prs.
I just find the assumptions of prs contradictory to idea of precision shooting. In benchrest your goal is to achieve the smallest group possible. There are rules that impose limitations on weight etc. But clearly you do not introduce rules that would contradict the ultimate goal of shooting: accuracy.

Not looking down on? “Nonsense”, “just a bunch of running around looking cool”…..

It’s implied on here continually but you actually said it which I give you credit for, at least being honest and clear, thinking that bench rest is the end all be all.

Its a big old world out there ;)

And what are the rules that you think go against accuracy in PRS?

And again you don't know much about PRS if you think there is no precision or accuracy needed.

Part of my post was ironical. I think you missed that. Also the word „nonesense” was used in conjunction with „from a target shooting perspective”. You missed that either.

PRS rifle in Tac class off a bipod at Red White and Blue Sharpshooter this year. 6dasher rollin 105 vlds at 2970 fps. I shot my first PRS match 2 weekends ago with this rifle. It’s crazy how fast 90 seconds goes by for 10-12 targets. Most stages it was impossible for me to shoot all targets before timing out. I was definitely humbled knowing I was just a good of a shot as the top guys but they are FAST. But the main thing I took away from that match was it was fun. If you have a chance go shoot one. Plus the swag and awards given away are top notch.

I don’t know jack about PRS

But

When we opened up the Tactical class in benchrest to attract PRS shooters who were looking for something that didn’t hurt their ‘ol joints as much.

I do not think any of us expected what we got.

Well built, Well tuned, Mag fed bolt guns that were being operated by highly experienced shooters. Feeding from a mag means they are shaving a second or two of us fast single feeders.

I would be willing to bet that at least a third of the matches we host (11 a year) and I know two of the 600 yard Colorado State Tournaments the small group of the day award went to the tactical fellas.

Don’t shit yourself, those rigs are designed to shoot just as small as a bench gun.

Same smiths, same passion.

Think about it

Freedom Benchrest 600 yard Tactical records

1.556” 4 target agg at 600 yards
.948” smallest single target

And we’ve only been shooting tactical for a couple years.
When the tactical game “matures”, I bet the records will make seasoned Benchrest shooters take notice.

These groups were possible under benchrest rules. Which is coherent with remarks I made earlier. I frankly do not believe that shooting position depicted below allows you to use full accuracy potential of your rifle.

Maybe the lady in your photo forgot her 6ppc single shot and her vise with a joystick and all other accessories that fill a wheelbarrow and cover some concrete bench, so she figured she’d just take a quarter minute rifle and actually learn how to shoot it.

She’s probably having fun and doesn’t realize she’s engaged in what you call “nonsense”, running around looking all cool.
