What seems to be the optimal Barrel Length for the 243AI?

I'm considering building a 243AI on Gikes Ross Action with 33inch Broughton 5C barrel 1:7.5twist set up for the 115-117grain DTACS is barrel too long for the .243AI I figured given the increased pressure of the AI configuration coupled with increased pressure of the heavier bullets I would achieve better results with 33inch barrel than say 30-31inch and could achieve higher velocities?

Does anyone have suggestions or reasons why the extra 2-3 inches would be unnecessary or reasonable?

thanks

Nope, I have a 30" tube coming for a 6CM chamber, it closely mimick's the 243AI. I plan on using slow powders,H1000 and N165) and will need the extra length to burn all the powder. The 6CM using a 115gr bullet, and powered by H1000 has given 3050 fps. from a 28" tube. I say the longer the better, within reason).

Yes, that is what I figure as well, the problem is this what sort of pressures are the 243AI's generating with slow burning powders? It sounds like the 33 inch should work... I hope it does I sort have my heart set on it?

Kinda old post, but what the hey - a slow Sunday afternoon. Didja try the 33? Did you end up whacking any off?
