Your problem is the scope, it only has 40 MOA of total adjustment. Most everything I use for 1K and beyond plinking has a 40 MOA base and a 5.5-22 NXS on top, which has 100 MOA on tap.Was at the range this week and decided to try 950 yd gong. I punched it in my shooter app and it said up 31 but I was 5 MOA shy. Shooting a NF NXS 12x42 scope with a 20 moa base. What is everybody using to get to 1000? I'm shooting 82 gr Bergers at 2800 FPS.
So, a 30 MOA fixes the problem? More than likely i'll never shoot a match at 1000 yd but might want to ring steel.
I removed the scope, removed the base and measured rear and front and even tho it didn't say it was 20 MOA, it was same measurement as one that stated it was 20 MOA. I can't imagine ordering anything less than a 20 MOA when I put the rifle together.
It has 25 MOA under Zero as it sets. So its pretty close to mid point.
I'm sorry, I try to keep a 300 yd zero on all my rifles. Its just easier for me to go to 600 and back.
The 12-42 is the problem as stated above. Also stated above are the Burris rings. That's he exact route I went with mine.
223ai on a savage action with a 20moa base and I was still zeroed at 100 and only had 18moa up left on the scope. I played with the inserts and now I am 6moa from the bottom when zeroes at 100. Not too close to the bottom but plent of up left to reach as far as this little round wants to go
