What powder scales are the 1000 yard people useing?

Harrell's measure to within +|- 0.04 grain, Denver Instruments MMX-123 plugged into a voltage stabilizer + battery back-up (scale's on 24/7/365) with the aluminum scale pan from an RCBS 5-0-5 from long ago, then an Omega trickler fitted with a piece of Culver's (the restaurant, not the powder measure company) drinking straw over the (shortened) discharge tube end. One of Satern's aluminum, cartridge-specific funnels helps a lot.

With these items I can throw, weigh, load primed cases & seat Palma bullets at a rate of about 100 - 110 / hour, a little more than 30 seconds per round.

Haven't used a beam scale since I started using my RCBS 1500 Chargemasters. Have am Acculab and a couple of Denvers too, but seldom use them either.

RCBS Chargemaster, Occasionally confirmed with a RCBS 505.

Look David, let me explain something to you. Just because you are the current F-Open national champion doesn't mean you know anything about handloading. I mean, for all we know, you just have greater marksmanship skills to compensate for your bad ammo that did not have the powder measured twice by high-priced scales. I'll even bet that your loading room is not inside a sterile laboratory.

I use a Chargemaster by itself.

Oh the humanity.

Sartorius GD-503 + Lee PPM + Omega 2-speed trickler - fastest setup short of a Prometheus that I've found.

Still have an RCBS Chargemaster 1500 that gets used plenty

Tanita model 1210. Originally advertised for the diamond trade where 1/100th carat is the lower limit of measurement for faceted gem grade diamonds.

At today's price (~$210) the most flexible and useful of them all in my opinion (have had mine OVER 7 years and many thousands of charges).

On battery power, absolutely no warm-up or drift.

Discriminates to .05 grain (1/20th).....ONE kernel of H-1000, ~two kernels of Varget.

Stick it in your pocket and take it to the range to work up your loads.

Walk down "diamond merchant's row" in midtown NYC and watch it in action between 2 diamond cutters haggling on the side walk.

What's not to like?

Denys, They're left handed, metric, tactical tweezers! The only way to add one cornel at a time. You witnessed how well they worked when we shot practice together at Raton.

Raton was months ago and I've shot several matches since then. Also, I don't even remember what I did yesterday

So, are you saying that you manipulate each kernel of powder with your tactical tweezers when loading? You have a lot more patience that I. If my calculations are correct my load of Varget represents about 2225 grains for each cartridge. So your load rate is probably measured in case/month. What dedication.

I'm too lazy for that, and with my Chargemaster set on automatic, I load 100 cases/hour.

+1 for lazy.
That's why I use the Chargemaster/GD503/Omega combination. it is fast, about the same as Denys' rate, and requires minimum labor expenditure. ;)

So what kind of cutter do you guys use on your stick powder? With a razor blade, I am able to cut them in half but sometimes my scale says I need a quarter...

That's funny, what kind of accuracy shooter would cut with a razor blade? You need a lathe with a parting tool or at least a mill. ;D

I agree with Erik. This is the new hot setup for powder kernel sectioning. [br]
