6mm BR with 1/14 twist

Lone hunter, in a 8T with .105 freebore, the 80g Sierra blitz bt works well.

My 6 BR's in 12,13, and 14 T barrels with zero freebore so 55,58,60,62,65,70,75g bullets all shot p. dogs, jack rabbits, and ground squirrels extremely well.
I used H335 with Rem 7 1/2 for extremely long barrel life. A have a 27" 12 T that I am shooting the 55g Nosler ballistic tip at 3900 into very tiny bug holes with AA2230.

Bobby, I shoot the 70g Sierra blitz kings with H335 with amazing accuracy and long shot strings inbetween cleanings. H322 shoots fantastic, so does AA2015 but cleaning frequency is much greater for colony varmints where you shoot a lot all day long.

My first 6 BR was an Atkinson 14T, 22". I made a 60g hp with a wide hp. Ground squirrels disappeared at the shot, and once in a great while, you would see a rug floating down.

I have shot H335 in slow twist, light bullet 6 BR's since 1987, tiny groups with amazing barrel life. You just have to use some common sense when going to very hot climates and not let your ammo "cook" in the Sun....colony varmint use.

75g V max is best in a 12 twist.

You will be fine with the 10T. I am shooting 75's in a 6 BR-12T & 6 BRX-10T with H335 and AA2230 with excellent accuracy and speed. The Sierra 70g Blitz king is the most explosive bullet in this 70-75g range that I have shot.

Be aware that the 75g V max with zero freebore is at or below the shoulder neck junction on the case.

6000-8000 rounds of excellent barrel life with a 6 BR using H335 is normal if you start off with zero freebore and shooting colony varmints hot and heavy. We had many towns to shoot on where we would dump out a box of 50 and shoot as fast as we could lock and load.

Hi Ya’ll. My son and I found that his 14 twist 6br won,t shoot anything but Bart’s 68gr Ultra fb bullets. But man will it shoot them! Seems like our best loads use Lapua brass, CCI BR4 primers, and either 29gr. of LT 32, or 30.1gr. of Benchmark.

I love to see these old threads take on a new life!!

Building a 6BR out of shot-out or sub-performance 6PPC barrels is the best way I can think of to salvage the value of the steel. The used barrels usually end up <21" depending on what your 'smith has to cut off to make it fit your receiver. They're going to be slow twist (13.5 - 14.5) range so 68-70 gr bullets will be about as high as you can go. That said, the accuracy potential and splat factor on varmints is awesome!

My personal belief is that most BR guys give up on barrels too quickly and there are a lot of really good barrels that can be had relatively cheap! I picked up a lot of 10 for $350 once! Couldn't see where any one of them was actually shot out. I used 'em for BR's, Dasher's, die bodies, muzzle brakes, lathe practice, and I've still got spares.

Most accurate rifle I've ever owned. 6BR 14 twist, 66-68 gr. Fowlers and a stout load of VV N-135.

80gr Berger’s shoot well in my 8 twist. 87vmaxs shoot extremely well in my 10tw- close to ppc accuracy.
