What moa base for a CZ 457 …

I'm not sure exactly how far I'll be able to dial. I can do 300yds as it is, but barely. Hopefully I'll gain the full additional 20moa, but it's seldom that simple.

There's established steel hangers on my range in meters. Currently I can dial 300yds, but not 300m. Plus it should keep me closer to the center of the scope, better clarity etc.

It will be interesting to see how much 'down' I'll have left with a 50yd zero.

Next step (maybe soon) a 34mm scope for the increased travel.

Not the MTR, just the Varmint. 24 inch (I think, I'll measure when I get home

ETA: 24 inches is correct

I've been really pleased with how it shoots. My buddy's performs very close, a little better with some ammo, a little worse with other. His is also just the regular Varmint barrel, not MTR.

Powerful knowledge there my friend. Sounds like you have some things figured out that I’ve yet to even ponder.

So, I have a bscar 25 moa base coming that doesn’t come with base screws. Do you know off hand what the size of screws that mount this base to our 457?

Thank-you for your thoughts in advance.

Area 419 30MOA works great for me. Comes with all the mounting screws

Checking back in.

Did you get the Bscar rail direct from Bscar. I just received my 45moa rail from him, and the screws are in the rail loosely.

Anyway, mounted the 45moa, and remounted the scope. P,entry of clearance for the bell, and I felt like I needed about 1/16 inch more cheek riser, I haven't shot it yet, this was just while remounting the scope, and playing around.

I did , best I could, measure both rails, and applying some High School trig, the 45moa is just over 20moa 'steeper' than the 25, as it should be (and I'm sure any difference was my marginal measuring skills, and rounding during the calcs.

Temp hax been in single digits, and isn't supposed to get above freezing until the weekend, so no range report until probably Monday.

What base ring combo would fit the following rifle scope combination best?

1. rifle -CZ 457 Pro Varminter trainer with the Manners chasis that does NOT have a cheek riser
2. scope -Athlon Helos 4-20x, 50mm odjecive with 30mm tube. 18miles of vertical adjustment

I would like to know what moa base and ring height would work best for the above combination without adding a cheek riser while maximizing the distance potential.

thank-you in advance for your input.
I have a Vudoo and a Bergara B14R.The Vudoo has an original Vortex PST FFP mil adjustment scope and the 20MOA rail with rings that have minimal clearance over the barrel have gotten me to 300 yards with no trouble.
The B14R also has a 20MOA rail and wears a Nikon Buckmaster MOA scope (1" tube) in Burris Signature Zee rings. These scopes have a reputation for not providing much elevation adjustment but I have zero trouble with that on my 200 yard steel.
I have used 30MOA rails before but, personal preference, I feel the 20MOA rails center the scope to my eye better than the more aggressively angled mounts.
As for which ones, the CZ mounts I have used are from DIP but Area 419 is high quality and they provide great customer service.

This is the final scope to base to receiver build with a Athlon to 25 moa base to the CZ 457 trainer. I pulled the bolt and bore sighted the rifle and scope with the naked eye. The first five shots from 50 yards with Norma ammo resulted in the cluster below.
Pretty happy so far, especially with the scope turrets are pretty much right in the middle with plenty of vertical to hopefully spare out to 300 yards.
Any thoughts on what bipod works best without adding a arcus Swiss rail?

Thank-you all VERY much with helping out on this build so far.

I was able to get to the range, but it was still pretty muddy out past 200, so I couldn't really stretch it out.

To recap:
CZ 457 Varmint
24 inch barrel
Bscar 45 moa base
Warne medium rings
Athlon 4 -24 x 50
KRG Bravo

Sighted in at 50yds.
I'm 1.7 mils from bottomed out, so could easily dial down to 25 if needed.
I have right at 17 mils of up left (I know that adds up to more the 18 mils total, but the dials are what the dials are)

That should easily get me to 350ish, hopefully next time out things will have dried out some and I'll be able to try it at distance.

On your bipod question, I just use a Harris, with swivel and a pod lock. Since I'm not competing, I have plenty of time to set up and get levelled, if I was on the clock I might choose something else, but so far I've been very happy with it. Mostly shoot prone, with rear bag, or if it's too wet or cold to flop down, same setup off a concrete bench.

Finally, that's a good looking rig. Grab a bunch of different ammo and have fun!!

Thanks for the information Dave! Sounds like your ready for the 300 yard test, once the weather complies. Nice!
Quick question for you please? I see a bunch of different Harris options on their site. If I just want to use my stud on the manners stock and would like to mimic your set up, do you know off hand what mode number your bipod is so I can get one coming?
Thanks and good luck on the long range.

Bipod(s):

In the pictures I posted, it's a S-BRM=6-9inch legs, swivel head, notched legs.

I also use a S-LM = 9 - 13 INCH legs, swivel head, notched legs.
I use it when hunting Prarie Dogs or other vermin, where I might need a little higher clearance. Also when friends who are unable to get low comfortably come out with me.

There are lots of Harris options, some fairly recent. You used to need a pic or arca adapter if you wanted that kind of mount, but that now offer that head.

One thing that everyone seems to do is buy a pod loc, or S - loc, to replace the fiddly tilt adjustment knob. It basically allows you to easily reach forward and adjust and lock the tilt.

I also have a larger knob for the mounting tensioner. Seems to be easier to mount/unmount from the sling swivel. Especially with cold fingers. I tend to switch bipod at least once per range session, and I don't store them on the guns, so a few attach/remove cycles per trip.
