What is your recoil limit?

Oh I missed the "when shooting for fun" part. That would be anything up to my 6.5 CM or 308, but really the 6GT and any of my 22 centerfire are a pleasure regardless of rifle weight. The most fun nowadays is a 22-250 with varmint barrel and a can on it. Put a huge smile first time I shot it with the can, feels like firing a 22rf and sounds like one as well with muffs on.

7 - 8rds at the bench from my 338WM, 250gr NPTs over 71gr R19, double that from my 7RM with 160 NPTs and 60gr 4831. Most recently, about 10rds from my brother's 18.5" 444 Marlin Dark series (pre-composite stock) was enough for me. Oddly, 45-70 doesn't bother me at all.
No upper limit when shooting for fun 'cuz I don't shoot stuff that ain't fun. I'd say shooting my 22 or 6.5 Creeds, both of which weigh 12.5lbs, is pleasant.

Probably a 12 gauge for a few rounds of trap. For rifle, just give me a .223; I tried for a long time to get my .308 Palma rifle comfortable, but it never did take. Soon as I moved to .223 it was fun again (and my scores went up.)
12 gauge with a 300 grain slug is a complete nightmare. I loathe shooting it every year just to make sure it is accurate to bring into the field in Michigan for our non rifle deer zones.

Back when I was getting ready to go elk hunting 20-30 338 win mag from a rugger 77 hunting rifle. Not near as much any more. last time I shot it 10-12. I even have some 30 calibers that are almost brutal. Won't be too many years and i will be looking to load them down.

Sold my 416 Rigby two years ago, ten rounds of my hand loaded ammo in a Ruger#1 would get your attention.

I shot a buddy's 460 Weatherby mag. for two shots in a row .....it was lively to say the least. No desire to do it again.

Hardest kicker I have now since I had a good brake put on my 338wm(8# scoped and loaded) is my Savage 220 with Federal 3" fusion sabots(3/4 oz). Keep looking at the Witt machine clamp on brake. The Browning BPS 12 ga slug guns were no fun to sight in. All this is with t shirt weather, coat weather changes recoil for me, much more tolerant.

Yeah, that sounds awful. I've shot 00 buckshot out of my 1100 a couple times and that was plenty.

I shoot a lot of Eley Match these days. 100 yard .22 benchrest matches at the local club. Makes me giggle every match, mainly because of no E targets. 10mm XD-M is as big as I go handgun wise. I do shoot a Sharps 45-70 some but figured out long ago that Trail Boss is my friend.

Well as you said @fatelvis you can get spoiled shooting lesser rounds. Today I went shooting taking my PPC and BR rifles. Great to shoot, but since moose season is only a couple months away I also took my 30/378 along to check the zero. I hunt with this rifle with no brake as the blast is just too much for my ears. Well the bad habits I got shooting the PPC's and BR's got straightening out very fast shooting this beast. This is the max most I can take for recoil ( 200 gr Part at 3275 ft/sec) and in all honesty probably too much. Just brutal.

I have a 27" barrel and a 12" bloop tube on my Anschutz. I get asked all the time how I managed to get a suppressor here in California!

I worked my way up the cartridge/recoil ladder as far as a 416 rem Mag, 350's at 2800 would get your attention.

I've since went the other direction and my big boomer now is a 6.5x47 Lapua.
