What is your preference on Nightforce Reticles?

I am purchasing a Nightforce Benchrest 8-32 scope to primarily shoot F-class and general target shooting from 300-1000 yds. Without having it in my hands to look at it first, I'd like some opinions on choosing between the NP-R2 reticle and NP-2DD for that application. I'm leaning towards the 2DD with the dot but also more comfortable with the crosshair type in the R2. Is the crosshair in the R2 nice and fine for good precise target alignment? Or is the dot (which I've never used before) better?

I use the NP-R2. It's a tad heavier crosshairs weight than anything else & stands up well in bad light conditions - plus the stupid hash marks are far enough out of the target area that I can pretend that I'm shooting plain crosshairs.

I think the dot is harder to do hold off with .

Thanks, I was using an FFP scope for a few years. Great glass, and great for hunting or steel targets as well but I couldn't stand how the reticle grew with magnification on distant paper. Lesson learned. I was also thinking about the dot, if it's small enough it would be nice match inside the target ring for good alignment, but again I'm guessing at the size of it without seeing it in person

I have four (4) NF scopes on my F-TR rifles, three are NP-2DD and one is the new version the DDR2 in the new Competition scope.

I like my dot.

Larry, you're right about the hold off. Was thinking that as well. But an equal antagonizer to me is if the R2s cross hairs are too thick.

XTR, I agree with that. If I just got the Competition model it would make my decision alot easier. If they only made that reticle in the BR..

I don't like the DDR2 any better than the NP-2DD, it's basically the same but slightly different. When I shoot them I really don't notice the difference often. Ijust ind of reminds me which rifle I'm behind because I only have one of the DDR2s. I've got NP-2DDS on my 22LR, my 223, and my backup 308. I'd have been fine if NF had left that reticle alone.

I been really holding back from buying the FCR-1 holding out for the SCR on the vortex but temptation might win out.I prefer a scope with hash because that's what I am use to.

Once you look through that Nightforce Competition you will buy it. Matt
