Nightforce reticle for F/TR

looking at getting a Nightforce 12-42x x 56mm Benchrest scope for .308 F/TR mid range competition. i am trying to decide between the two reticles offered, the NP-R2 or the NP-2DD. I am leaning towards the NP-2DD at this point. mostly will be shooting @ 600yd or less.

any thoughts?

I like the NP-2DD for 600 yds. I hold off for corrections. I'm shooting a 6 Dasher in open class and have shot some clean scores and dropped one or two points for relays

I like the NP-R1...1 MOA hash marks for elevation and 2 MOA for windage. The NP-R2 has 2 MOA elevation and 5 MOA windage. I use the smaller measurements for finer hold-offs. The FCR-1 on the 15x55 is great with 1 MOA in both directions !!

Which ever one you like better. In F class it's more personal preference than anything else, they all work. You are using the rings for hold offs. I have 3 NP-2DDs and a DD2R. I'd have 4 NP2DDs if NF offered it in the 55 Comp scope.

I have several NP-2DDs and NP-R1s. As Wade suggested, it's largely a matter of personal preference. Both work just fine. The hashmark reticles are helpful for windage if set on the appropriate magnification setting so you know the angular subtension. Under certain circumstances such as overcast days when the light is low, the NP-2DD aiming dot can sometimes be difficult to see against the black target face (background), but it's not a deal breaker as long as you're aware of it.

thanks for all the input. I was concerned about seeing the dot on the NP-2DD reticle but on the NP-R2, the windage graduations seem excessive and i do like a simple uncluttered reticle with a dot. now i just need to double check the weight of the rifle with the Seb-Joy bipod attached and make sure i won't have a weight issue. i think it will be fine. i am replacing a Sightron SIII 8-32x with the Nightforce
