What is procedure after USPS loses insured Item?

What the big deal about the firings of USPS today? My Sister was fired by the Clinton administration from her job in the USPS back then. She was a higher up at one of 6 financial offices in the US. She was located in St Louis. The office was closed. She said her co-workers thought nothing of it and looked for another job. My Sister became the Postmaster at the St Charles, MO post office. I believe she was in charge of 350 employees.

Government is obese, thin the heard, deal with it. It's not quantity, it's quality.

I do not recall the level of poor service experienced currently during the late 80's, early 90's.
THAT is the big deal.
Personally, I think the USPS is beyond saving.

You better go to online billing and payment now or risk a late fee.

Shipping something you consider important?

Good luck. You'll need it.

Poor service has been in vogue for 20 years, and getting worse is the new normal, as they say. I don't believe the firings have anything at all to do with the problems. The crappy service is nothing new it didn't start miraculously in the last couple of months.

Clinton fired 377, 000 and no one complained.

Sign of the times...nobody Has to care anymore.

got 2 packages lost right now, one being a set of triggers and another being a barrel for a collector 410 shotgun. mailed off some items i sold to a gentleman in alaska and that damn thing was delivered in 4 days. This is the 3rd time in 2 months they have lost my items i have shipped out. I cant call and talk to anyone bc i am one that has no filter and will pretty much tell you to your face you are worthless, so i have to file all this stuff on line and bitch while im doing it.

I've abandoned USPS for letters, let alone packages. I call a business/vendor before I place an order. If it's USPS, I'll do without.

It's not a situation I created. I'm dealing with the reality.

I did this once. filled out the forms and waited a year. Never again heard from them. Fortunately it was , and because I needed it, was not an excessively expensive item to replace..

I had a priority mail package (I shipped) sitting at a hub for 4 days(tracking info). I went to the postmaster of the office I sent from, asked to check tracking. She said I could find out everything she could. The next day I went into a different PO and asked the PM there to track it. She said it's been sitting for 5 days at the hub. She took my PN, said she would call there and check. Next day she called me , the package was in the wrong sort bin. In 2 days it was delivered.

So this might seem to be a bit off the topic, but bear with me.
Anyone who is retired can't answer, because you have no daily reference.
Anyone who works from home can't answer. You have no daily commute.
If you have a daily commute to a workplace in a vehicle, you see it. The vast majority of those sharing the road with you are going to work somewhere.

Watch how they drive.

They're at a job somewhere performing similarly to their driving habits/skills.

Still wonder why things are screwed up?

Hint - some work at the USPS.

And if you're the one splitting lanes on a motorcycle going 20mph + above the speed limit

Or driving 10 mph or more under the speed limit in the left lane

Or passing on the shoulder, left or right side with your middle finger extended when the traffic is at or above the posted speed limit.....

You can find the problem in the mirror.

Because that is the same behavior you are showing in your entire life.

If it is a barrel call it a stainless steel tube, if it's a trigger call it an activation devise, don't mention anything to do with a gun!!!

So as of today barrel set in Atlanta for 1.5 wks was supposed to go 2 hrs away last week got sent to Dallas now sets back in Georgia since last Thursday filled numerous lost files filed for insurance

The old saying that "The meek shall inherit the earth" is not a behavior that I would recommend when dealing with the post office. If you want them to get something done about a lost, stolen or damaged package, you better be ready to fight it out with them and never give up.

I’m going through this right now. I sent my bench source annealer back for repair. Shipped on March 7th, tracking stopped on March 14th. On April 7th I talked to local postmaster, he tried calling Albuquerque post office because that was the last location on tracking. They never returned his call. He told me to file a claim, and I tried that 5 times on their site. Every time I get everything filled in and hit submit, it erases info. So on April 14th a filled out lost package report. Nothing has happened since then, other then coming up as lost package on tracking.

I also experienced USPS mess-up recently, but on a much smaller scale. Still it's aggravating.

I was lazy this year and mailed my tax package to my CPA. Usually, I drop it off but it's a bit of a drive. Thinking it was being smart, I sent it Certified Mail. Maybe I should have plunked down for Registered Mail.

The package never arrived (apparently). Tracking stopped just before final delivery. I sweated for a while since the package had LOTS of personal information in it. Then I experienced "a bright idea" and called my CPA. "Yep, we have it and are working on it." Dang it! The Carrier was lazy and didn't bother to have the CPA sign for it. Just dumped it off with the regular mail.

I had submitted a lost mail trace and of course they never found it. I loved the thought of PO droids scurrying around trying to find an already-delivered package, but I know that's just foolishness on my part. I waited the prescribed time and requested a refund. It's not the amount - a few dollars - it's the principle. (Betcha heard that one before!) USPS claims the refund was approved and the check is in the mail. I half expect them to "lose" it.

A follow up, filling out the lost package report has helped. The tracking is now showing checked in at Memphis yesterday. So March 10th to April 19th going from Albuquerque to Memphis. Hopefully it finds its way to Mississippi!

I hope it is in Memphis for your sake, but I wouldn't hold my breath. That is probably just the last place they scanned it before it got damaged/discarded. Either way, good luck!
