I am curious if there is a standard do not exceed number on opening receiver threads. I've heard of very reputable gunsmiths opening 700's to 1.085.
Just curious if there's a max for a reasonable safety allowance.
I see that most actions seem to be similar in thickness i.e. 700 is 1.350ish with 1.062 threads savage is super close to both those numbers. So it seems there is more to it than the designer wanted this thread.
