What is happening to Burris?

jonbearman

I live in new york state, how unfortunate !
I recently bought a new 30mm set of burris signature zee rings on here with no complaint. The only complaint I do have is where they are made, you guessed it china. Now I see why burris was bs'ing us as moving the factory and getting the line up and running, not where they moved some manufacturing in the USA but in reality it took that long to get their Chinese factory built and running. We probably helped pay for that move as companys get big incentives to move over seas. I would have been happier if they moved to mexico but no the holy dollar means more than previous quality. Darn shame if you ask me.

I just think it sucks because now they are made for pennys on the dollar yet the prices went up this year again. They don't stand behind their product as I had a true nightmare with them about 18 months ago. I thought that they would be the holdouts but I was wrong as usual.

I ordered a set of 30 mm rings. They showed up with 1 inch inserts. When I talked to customer service I felt as if they had a don't give a damn attitude.

Jon, I have been buying some off of evil bay for some time now. Only if they have pics of package so can see where made.

This is sad news another great product gone to China. We can expect the usual to happen, although I hope it doesn't. The product price will continue to increase, the quality will slip or become spotty and customer service will disappear.

DO not forget that in addition to the "incentives" of manufacturing products oversea, there is the STUNT pulled by some financial institutions like Bank of America (and others) who previously financed companies making firearms and firearm related parts who have notified those companies that they will no longer finance them because of the weapons or parts they make. Now I don't know of Burris falls into that category, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they did.

That ‘STUNT’ is “Operation Choke Point” doing its thing, compliments of the O’bummer admin.

The sad fact is that the cost of manufacturing in our country has gone up exponentially under the obama administration. Under his leadership the regulatory agencies [EPA] have put a choke hold on American business. If we want to bring back manufacturing in our country there is a whole host of people in our government that have to be fired and replaced with people that are friendly to the founding ideology of our Constitution.

Congress is rife with fat cats like Mitch McConnell, Thad Cochran, John Cornyn, John McCain and John Beohner to name a few. That's not counting the Rinos like Olympia Snow and that legion of dolts nor the democrats which have devolved into straight running Socialists. Their goal is only to control the money. Our tax money and they don't much care how they get it. What have they promised during the campaign? What have they delivered on those promises during their control?

If we truly want manufacturing to come back then it is incumbent on us to run the jackasses out that have waged war on manufacturers and us consumers. It is up to us. We have one vote each unless you are a member of Obama's legion of community organizers.

cheers,

Joe

Sad sad.
If we had to start a country war machine up again like in ww2 it couldnt be done. We would have to rely on our enemies to supply us. Dumbing down of the kids have got us to where we couldnt do it anyway.

I fixed it for you!

Back to the rings,I just bought a set and one ring wont slide onto a standard Pic rail. WAY too tight. I know that after I force it open I'll be lapping forever. P*ss me off.

rvn,
Take a wide bladed screw driver or something flat/wide and GENTLY pry the side apart via the bottom opening. I've had the same problem in the past myself but instantly corrected it without having any further problems. Works like a champ and doesn't hurt the rings. Now you could send it back for replacement if you like, but my suggestions is a quick fix without consequence.

Alex

You could always give these rings a try

Great people to deal with, great customer service and made right here

Seekins are nice rings but they are wide and sometimes eye relief is a real problem on savage rifles especially and they don't work well for me and no plastic insert to protect the scope.

PS: I don't really need a vise to control my scope movement and besides they are 3 times the price and have never had any real problem with the burris design. I guess I will keep buying them but with disdain as they are sell outs to the beancounter generation. It is all about profit margin and as we all know eventually quality will suffer.

Iv'e had that problem going onto Weaver aluminum bases, but it wasn't the ring. An extruded aluminum base can be a little large at the ends......measure yours and see. It's also very simple to spread that slot in the ring just a little.
