What is correct chamfer?

I use a 26 degree inside case mouth chamfer all the time on my RCBS Casemaster machine. I have heard it makes the best cut for BT bullets. But is it also the best for flat base bullets? What is the 45 degree chamfer designed for?

The outside chamfer is for knocking off small burrs only and is not as important.

I believe the 45 was designed for flat base and BT bullets. If you go with a VLD type cutter, around 28 degrees it would be a shallow angle and may tend to shave flat base bullets. Matt

I agree with Matt here. I do a 3 angle starting at 45, down to VLD, then a very shallow cutter of about 15. I then push each case mouth firmly into a pad of 0000 steel wool and rotate it back and forth to get rid of any sharp edges. I can actually feel the sharp edges going away when I do this. JMHO
