What Happened To The 300 Remington Ultra Mag?

Wasn’t the idea behind the rebated rim on the RUM so it could be used with Remington’s standard Magnum Bolt Face.?
I was reading on critique of the cartridge where the writer stated that many African hunters had doubts because of possible feeding problems with the bolt missing the rebated rim.

I would think that would be a non issue with a ELR steel hitter.

Obviously, you have never come face to face with the wrath of 4x8' sheet of AR500.

The WSM cases and saum cases are rebated a similar amount and they feed well.
It absolutely is a non issue for an ELR blaster.
 
I loved it.
When i shoot the ELR stuff, I just singe load. Jackie, there are some informal practices about 1 time a quarter in South Texas a little south of San Antonio. I can PM you on the next one..
 
I already have a Bat M action, (1 1/8 16 tpi tenon) bedded into a Shehane Laminated Tracker Stock. I suppose can get a bolt for it with a Magnum Bolt Face. Shooters hang pretty big barrels off of a Bat M.

I’m not sure if Bat make a bolt for the M with a 338 Lapua bolt face. I’m not sure it would be that much better than a 338 RUM.
 
In my 338 Lapua's 250 gr. bullets are the real deal at 1/2 mile. Allot of rifles will do that but the 300's really shine at Long ranges. YMMV
 
Up until 2 years ago, I owned a D&L MR30 300 RUM w/ Nesika action. Sold it to an associate who is still running it out west.
