300 Remington ultra magnum to 300 WSM

I have a friend who has a 300 Remington ultra magnum and is wanting to re barrel it to a 300 WSM will the bolt and action work for this conversion and will it feed reliably

Bolt will work, but it probably won't feed well. Not sure why someone would want to do this, but to each their own

Recoil is brutal

I've owned several. Recoil won't be much different launching heavy WSM rounds. Put a brake or a suppressor on it and have fun. There is literally nothing in North America it can't handle!

Most owners of any of the RUM chamberings never even fire them once without a muzzle brake.
