So from what I’m reading customs action are stuffer and have a better ignition system are their main points
All true and nothing wrong with anyone’s way.Correct...
Some are invested more than others.
Some heavily all at once...
Others a lil along the way.
I'm a other.
I've got more invested that won't return compared to 1k custom.
Accuracy wise the firing pin/bushing job improved ignition and craters to primers.
The bling come standard on customs and and aids in accuracy nothing.
EXACTLY!!!!Ream the receiver bore, sleeve the OD of the bolt body, finish to the receiver bore, and bush the bolt face and fit an .062 firing pin tip to it. You will also need to install a bolt handle to replace the gawd awful factory one.
Now if everything is done, you could have bought a custom.
No and no reason for it on a quality receiver.Do any of the top bench rest actions, short range and long range have floating bolt heads?
You don't see them in benchrest competition. What about a barrel nut?
Only savage I have is a 99 in 250-3000. It sure ain't a BR rifle. So the best custom actions in the world won't have them but they are necessary for Savage to make an accurate rifle??? There are countless threads here asking for help to fix my Savage , hard bolt lift , bad triggers, barrels that look like a sewer pipe in Detroit, Yet all I hear is how good they are. Large barrrel shank, small barrel shank, I may be mistaken but there must be 5 or 6 bolt patterns of stocks. I will not bring up the "R" word but I seldom hear anything but praise about a Tika, Sako or even a Howa. Yet a savage is called by many as "The best out of the box rifle."
You could say Kaugers do. While not intentionaly designed to float theres still a tiny bit of movement and thats all you need. The percent of quality actions with poor lug contact would amaze people. Most of the top BR actions are lapped at the factory. For a reason. The ones that arent get lapped by the smith. Or should...Do any of the top bench rest actions, short range and long range have floating bolt heads?
It's ridiculous as to how often that happens. The percent of quality actions with poor lug contact would amaze people.
Savage rifles or the ones I have owned are usually rough as a cob but majority of them shot outstanding. I have always said if savage would do a lil more design upgrades and some quality control it would help everyone outSo the best custom actions in the world won't have them but they are necessary for Savage to make an accurate rifle???
