What does this load tell you?

Started load development with CFE223, based on I have plenty on hand and my only other powder besides Varget is H335 and due to its temp. sensitivity and this will be for P'dogs. Could not find load data for 20 Tactical with 39gr bullet so I used what I could off reliable info including Quick Load. I could go a little higher, but don't want to reach dangerous pressure signs. I still have plenty of room in this brass for more powder. Going to look for Benchmark or 8208XBR next time I'm at fun store. Most likely only getting 3500fps, didn't have a chronograph to use and really wanting to get the most velocity with accuracy first.

I see lots of horizontal. You need to be shooting with flags so your shooting in a consistant condition. Well....unless you got a hummer. If your not doing that your efforts are wasted.

I would not disagree and guilty of not setting flags. Had a sunny 30 degree day with low winds and upcoming nasty weather all weekend so had to make the best of it. I think both you and g&g are on the same page. I wasn't positive about the wind being a factor, but believe both it and the powder may be too slow. Win 748 and this powder seem to have similar burn rates. 748 has been mentioned in some load developments, but know there are better.

Just found a couple pounds of H4895 think I will try next. Local fun shop did not have benchmark or H322 that I was hoping for.

you mentioned you still have room in the case for more powder... I always find my best loads with around 90 to 95% case fill.. if I run into pressure problems with less powder in the case than that its telling me its the wrong powder for that cart...

They all look like bad results.

Later:
You have to shot better than that or else your wasting your time looking at the groups. I always got a clear trend when shooting a ladder test. Mostly vertical spread. I have shot small round groups doing a ladder test. Both my rifles have a Kreiger barrel (6BR and 6BRX). What does a 5 shot group look like?

That's cause I'm a bad shot. Picked up IMR 8208 and H322 today and going to load a little higher in CFE223 before I switch powders.

Wise choice IMO as your max load group was 'getting there' !
Probably best to lessen the charge jump increments too so to not completely miss a node. ;)

Given the wind conditions, I like the top left and the top middle targets. On a windless day, both of these targets would cluster in a nice round hole.

Personally, when I run a ladder test, I shoot at least two and sometimes three targets with each load. This gives you a more exact idea of what is working. The more data you factor in, results in a more accurate analysis.

I would also tweak that 27.3 load some more, seat depth, etc.
Also if you want to check out another powder good in the 20 Tac, Kinder had some very good results with Exterminator.

Have you tried H-335?
I have it, but was avoiding it as a temp. sensitive powder. Will be taking my second Pdog hunt this spring and it will be a lot warmer.

Got all set up today to test a little further and found my Weaver does not like foggy, humid conditions. Could hardly see the target let alone the bulls eye. Nasty weather moving in so could be a few days, but i'll report back. Thanks everyone.

would seat them to same Ogive of 40 v-max, which will make them .025 to .030 longer oal, than the v-max,or try H-335 or win-748

Cold, but good day to shoot. CFE223 will work, but case likes to be filled. IMR 8208 looks a lot better. Will try and do some more work with it.
