What do we need?

Is there a product that you can't believe no one makes? Maybe there is a product that is way too expensive for what is intended for; what is it? We're looking to fill the needs of the civilian market and the best way to get ideas is to ask folk directly what they are interested in seeing. There already be a thread for this but I was unable to find it during a quick skim. I will be posting this on other forums as well to get a larger sample of replies.

Would like to see a high quality portable sportsman's chair that can be used to shoot in the field off shooting cross stick in the sitting position with both elbows resting on the knees.

1. It needs to be light weight, preferable made of sturdy aluminum tubing with a back rest and fold for easy carry on a sling.

2. It needs to have a durable heavy duty canvas seat and back rest.

3. It needs to have four legs for stability that firmly seat (dig) into the ground, (i.e. no rounded legs)

4. It needs to be no higher that 15", ground to seat in order for the shooter's to be able to rest his elbows on his knees and hold the shooting sticks and rifle comfortably without straining.

I researched every available portable sportsman's chair and they all come up short on at least one the elements listed above especially the most critical to me, item 4.

Although not essential, it would be nice if it rotated but I live without that feature.

Having not found one that meets my needs I modified an old Ameristep Hunting Chair. I replaced both the back rest and seat with heavy duty canvas increasing the width of the back rest (for comfort) and increasing the length of the seat to lower the chair to a height of 15". I attached a eye hook to the bottom cross bar of the back rest so when folded I would carry over one shoulder by attaching with a modified sling. It works well enough and I've gotten many seasons of varmint hunting out of it. However it's constructed of steel tubing which is durable but heavy to carry.

Wish list Number 2:

Bring back the high value simple Leupold VX2 scopes, 4 x 12 and 6 x 18 with the simple duplex reticle, adjustable objectives, and simple easy to adjust and read turret markers that rotate to zero.

Wish list Number 3:

Bring back the Remington 700's with the old trigger system but change the extractor design to a Sako type extractor.

Chamber reamers made of solid carbide that wont dull on the first cut chamber. It was a very high end blank but dulled so bad that we could hardly finish the chamber job.

While sheltering in place, had kind crude idea about another step in gun powder. Was thinking about making it in a form like tooth paste. One problem I see is putting it back in the tube.

Wrong grind angle. Not as uncommon as you might assume. I've only had one company supply these to me...

I have dozens of chamber reamers in carbide and they are exceptional at their job when properly used and lubricated.

How about a really rigid neck turner machine that actually works and is affordable.

Affordability is in the mind and wallet of the beholder. There is a new contraption out that does case prep under power for I think somewhere in the neighborhood of $1,800.00, but I can't locate the article.

1.Something to effectively clean carbon out of barrels easily.
2. Something that will allow you to easily mark how many times your brass has been fired. Preferably something you can put on the head of the case that will not come off.

Would the Predator Chair fit this bill? I use one for groundhogs and crossbow deer hunting on the ground.

I made a couple but never saw any available commercially, delrin cleaning bore guides of individual cartridges, one end is a carbon copy of the chamber.

The problem I have with the one that I used until it broke was sitting back was ok. Having to pull yourself up in time to get a shot off @ coyote trotting if front of you was slow and noisy. I still got the job done, but I have since moved on to the 3 legged blind chair with the back strap support. Not perfect, but it is working for me.

Thanks for info - I'll check out - there's always a possibility that I missed one.

The problem I've found with most chairs is that their either too high or too low to allow me to rest my elbows on my knees while holding the shooting stick with one hand and the rifle with the other. Another common problem is the weight - since I'm a mobile hunter hauling around a 15+ lbs chair doesn't work too well. I was able to modify the Ameristep Chair to meet most of my requirements in terms of height and weight but it doesn't rotate which would be a nice feature but not essential feature.

My system gives me very stable and highly mobile platform to make precise shots on varmints up to 300 yards which is perfect for me since about 95% of all my shot opportunities are under this distance. Also this platform provide a larger field of view since I'm elevated off the ground. On a good day at the range when I'm in the zone mentally I can shoot 1 moa off the sticks out to 200 yards which is the longest distance at the clubs I belong to for practice.
