What did you kill this fall, and what did you use?

No doubt about it, that loud whack told me that the deer was dead before I had recovered him in the sight picture. It was dark by the time I field dressed him so I didn’t dig around looking for the bullet. I doubt if there was anything left after impacting at 257 speeds.

I shot this WV buck opening day with my 309 JDJ Contender 14 in pistol. 309 JDJ is a 444 Marlin necked down to 30 cal. 165 gr Nosler BT @ 2300 FPS. He was at 40 yds and really didn't show much reaction at the shot. Walked away and I found him 50 yds away. Entrance hole is on the right.

Seriously, thanks for posting! That’s a proof of concept for my dad. My brothers and I got him a TC contender pistol in 7mm TCU as a long range hunting rig. We are excited when he takes it out to shoot.

I had a 6mm Creedmoor put together this fall my son shot a nice 8 point buck at 270 yards. I loaded some 90 go swift scirocco ll, put the smack on his buck. It was a quartering shot with a pass through, behind the shoulder and out the off hand side forward of the shoulder. Buck was down and out in 50 yards. A big thank you for Lee Gardner of Gardner Precision its a hammer!!

Some of you guys got some nice bones there. I carry a 7mm Mag. I saw 6 or 8 buck. Nothing bigger than a 8 pt. And a lot of doe. However I didn't shoot any deer. I did shoot a few pictures though.

During the Missouri firearms season I shot a doe at 260yds and 8 pointer at 15yds. I was using my old "boat paddle" stock Ruger chambered in 7mm Rem Mag with Nosler 120 BT's. The 23rd of this month I'll be back at it with my T/C pistol chambered in 7-08, also using the Nosler's..........If I was smart enough to post pics I would, I still haven't figured how to do that yet.

IMG_3618.PNG if the picture is too big and won't upload you may need to scale the picture down in size a little bit

I have so far killed time!!! For 2 years in a roll..
But, my 9 year old took a deer at 600 yards, and my 12 year old took one at 540 yards. Both using my 280AI. I'd call that a win for me and them. Maybe I will get the smoke pole out and get lucky.

Blue tongue hit in the area this year, looks like it hit hard.
