What did you kill this fall, and what did you use?

I was lucky enough to draw an early rifle bull tag here in AZ. Hunted three days with some good friends of mine and was able to get this guy at 630 yards right at last light on the third day. I was so excited I finally drew my first elk tag I built a rifle specifically for this hunt. FN large ring Mauser re-barreled with a Benchmark #4 in .280 Ackley Improved. I am pushing a 168gr Berger VLD at 2896 fps and it worked like a champ.

Care to post pics of the rifle sir?

between my brother and myself, we're up to 4 deer. Used my Tikka 300WM, Custom Tikka 25-06 and "home made" 300BLK AR. Looking forward to pistol season here, have another doe tag and a nice new 308 Encore pistol barrel to carry this year.

My brother and I shot these buck with bows a couple weeks ago I'm the one on the right my brother on the left holding his bow upside down:rolleyes:, they are nothing to write home about but we are both pretty new at the whole bow hunting thing so we were happy. I shoot a PSE EVO set at 66 lbs and it pushes my hunting arrow and G5 striker broadhead at 314fps.

I shot this buck Sunday night on my very first trip out west on a diy hunt in Montana. He was shot with 140gr berger hunting vld in front of a moderate load R19 out of my 6.5x284 built on a Remington action. We had to run close to half mile to get into position before we ran out of shooting light and when I popped my head over the bluff he was standing broadside and 260 yards so I took a minute to catch my breath and took the shot and he went down like a ton of bricks.

Got me a little fork horn buck. Well...I guess he has a lot of forks ;)

Put him to sleep with a 250gr Berger EH from my 338-375 Ruger. SS Rem 700 Ultra Mag action, 26" Brux barrel, Harrel's tactical brake, AG Composites Carbon Fiber stock, Nikon Black X1000 6-24x50mm scope.

by no means am I proud of the horns but it was shot with a 6br at 400 yards.you don't have to have a 300 wm to shoot a white tail beyond 50 yards.

Who told you that? I've killed over 25 deer and antelope with a Berger 140gr 6.5 bullet out well past 600 yards. Definitely don't need a large magnum for deer. I just like large magnums sometimes because they give you a lot more options for a shot. You can punch through a LOT more bone and muscle to get to the vitals if the animal does not present a good angle for a shot

Took this one at 17 yards with my CVA muzzleloader. Not a giant, but my biggest so far.

I killed 5 doe and one buck white tail deer. Used my custom Rem. 700 25-06 with 117 Sierra Pro Hunter pushed by 49 Grs IMR4350 to take 4 of the doe and the buck. I used my custom Rem 700 264 Win mag with 130 Nosler Accubond pushed by 66.5 grs Retumbo to take the other doe.

Well, Bob paid me 20 bucks, his wife went ballistic. Something about I hit it on purpose. Told her I can't plan anything that close to perfect.

Now my wife is involved, the neighborhood Christmas caroling is in jeopardy, how can I plan it any better?

Sorry there are not
any pictures, never seen a cat with horns.

Just getting the season kicked off here but buddy shot a wt doe with my 6.5x47 and 120 Ballistic Tip. Performed perfectly. First deer for this rifle. I have never shot a deer with anything as light as a 6.5x47. Doe dropped like a rock. Was less than 100Y but I think this combo is good to 400y. Pleased as punch with the rifle and cartridge.

I finally got a chance to test the 115 grain Berger out of my 257 Weatherby.
The shot was not too much of a challenge at a touch over 100 yards and it was a small buck but the freezer needed to be filled. The buck crumpled at the shot but what was surprising was the “whack” that I could hear from the bullet making contact. The 257 has quite a bark and I was surprised to hear the bullet impact.
No exit hole and just a tiny entrance wound but all his internal stuff was turned into soup!

That 115 Berger is probably my favorite bullet. It kills phenomenally well for its size.

That bullet is scooting pretty fast out of that rifle. Bet it made a big "whack". I like to hear the "whack". Sweet sound of success.
