What did you kill this fall, and what did you use?

I shot a fox in the head on the run at 30 yards or so with a .58 flintlock. I'd rather be lucky than good.;) And that was it for my deer season. Unfortunately I didn't have a cute girlfriend along for the hunt.....:(
Congrats on your impending marriage.:D

Here's more pics of the gun if you want to look.

2 does and 2 bucks, all killed using a PSE Tac Ordinance Xbow with the fairly new Ramcat heads. 3 deer including the good 10pt dropped in sight. All of those made it less than 40 yds and 1 made it 75 yds. Stunning performance from a bow & the heads make a huge hole. All were complete pass thrus. No need for a lighted nock, your bolt will be in the dirt behind where it was standing. 26" bolt & it is penetrating 10-16" into the ground after the pass thru.
I was done with Michigan buck tags before rifle season so I hunted with my son as he took a big 10pt using a custom 270 on a Mauser carbine action, Shilen #2 barrel, High Tech Specialties stock, 2# trigger, 3 position swing safety, Burris Electro-dot scope. Shooting 110 gr Barnes TTSX over 59grs of RL-17 W/CCI 200 primers. Velocity is 3550 fps out of a 23" barrel and the results are devastating. My 10 is on a plaque hanging in my office and I need to get his so I can give it the same treatment. Great year.

Thanks hogpatrol. Were really looking forward to what this next year will bring for the business and also our wedding. I had her plan the wedding and honeymoon around a once in a lifetime mule deer hunt in Colorado with a customer of mine :D Him, his brother and their girlfriends all smoked some really big mule deer this year in that area. The biggest was 233" and was 33" wide. Heres a pic of it. They shot it at 750 yds with a 28 nosler I built him. Somehow he was lucky enough to get a governors mule deer tag.

OMG, The hunting world is coming to an end. A deer killed with an AR. Oh woe is me. Unleash the hounds. Please send this to the PA game commission. They're still living in the 1940s. o_O

Seriously though, great shots with your AR. Plenty of good eating there. :D
Yes sir I got quit a bit of meat and a bunch of jerky. Here in KY we can use any center fire caliber and any rifle that the mag does not hold more than 10 rounds. I take it you all in Pa cant use a wicked black gun!!

I killed a bunch of time getting ready to go on my annual three week deer hunting trip to east NC. I had the camper loaded and everything packed except my weapons in the truck ready to leave and here comes hurricane Matthew. It rained 9 to 12" over the farm that I hunt which in the dry times has not decided if it is liquid or solid. Turned it into a lake. I stayed at home and did some house improvements with the time and money I would have used hunting.

Shot 4 whitetail, 3 for me one for my son
a 10 pt. a doe with a 54 cal muzzleloader
and two doe with my 280 ackley the 10 pt was
also shot with the ackley

I've been watching this buck since the summer on my farm. 3rd day of gun season he stepped out into an open field with a doe in tow. It was a front quartering shot, with the exit wound viable. One shot with a 450 Marlin anchored him where he stood at 146 yards. This guy fell in his tracks like you dropped a tractor on him! In all my years of hunting, I've never seen a deer go down so hard.
Thanks,

Lloyd

Here is the odd looking little spike I got last year. I have never seen one with such a messed up tine before. It had a small piece of velvet still on the very end that was like leather.

1250 Pound Bull in Quebec with my Savage .308 Winchester and 168 Gr Barnes TTSX-BT. He put on a great show racking, swaying, posing, and challenging when called in... memories for the ages.

I just got to ask how do you get that much meat out of the woods? it is hard on me dragging a 200+ pound whitetail out of the woods these days. I cant imagine how long it takes to get that out!!

I took my first deer of 2016 with a really heavy piece of iron. F-250 turbo diesel Crew Cab.

Dumb little spike horn. I have a 5 inch straight pipe on that truck and it's not the least bit stealthy, yet that poor little spike horn saw fit to break cover and run right out in front of me when I was doing about 50 mph. KE ~ 5 million ft lbs. At least he didn't suffer.

The 1250 pound live weight was estimated by the butcher... We opened up the Moose and left it overnight. It took four of us 2 hours to cut a trail and get 3 ATV's into the site, 3 hours to quarter the moose and load it onto the 3 ATV's, an hour to get back out through bog, ruts, ledge, etc... about 6 hours total. Short of a skidder... I don't know how that bull could have been taken out whole. I was told ahead of time that it didn't matter where the moose was when I shot him... It was my job to shoot him, and theirs to get him out no matter how long it would take.

All three of you guys are so happy it's hard to tell which one of you actually took the bull, lol! I love it.

Good job and congratulations!
