What chamber for a 30 varminter?

Gentlemen,

I am assembling components for a 30 caliber varmint rifle. The goal is for it to shoot bullets of 110 grains in weight. I have a barrel with 1-17 twist, and I know this combination of bullet and twist tends to produce short barrel life.

My question is, what chamber should I go with? I have considered 300 Rem SAUM, 300 WSM, 300 Win Mag, 300 Weatherby, and 300 H&H mag. What, if any, chamber would tend to give accuracy with the most barrel life?

Thank you in advance for your comments.

30x22-250 AI....plenty of vel.....good hunter class ctg....use Lapua 22-250 brass.....hard to beat...Roger

Roger,
Thank you for the suggestion. I am presuming a 30x22-250AI is a 22-250 necked up to 30 caliber and then Ackley improved. Will there be sufficient case capacity to drive a 110 grain bullet at the speeds necessary (4000 fps+) to stablize it in a 1-17 barrel?

Thank you,
Gene

It doesn't take 4000 fps to do the job....Hunter class rifles shoot 110's around 3200 fps in 17 twist bbls very accurately (so do 30 BR's at 3000).....it will give long bbl life and x-treme accuracy.......Roger

Richard Franklin made a "300 Varminter" based on the 300 WSM. It was a tight neck chamber, .337 neck with zero free bore, if I'm not mistaken? Would push a 110 Vmax or 125 Nosler at near 4,000 fps and he was taking wood chucks out to 1,000 yds. I think he was using 15tw or 16tw Krieger barrels with Norma brass!
