What case to push an 87Vmax???

What case would you use to push an 87 vmax in the 3300-3400 range?????

I`m wanting to stay below the .243,for heat reasons, and use it exclusively as a live varmint gun......squirrels/pd`s etc...

Look up user birdog and see his results. I`m thinking you are headed for Dasherville. I have a 12 twist Krieger sitting in the corner threaded for an action I no longer own. It has maybe 100 rounds on it. Need to get it ready for the same thing. Those 87`s must be some kind of fine.

Was kinda thinking about either the Dasher or the 6xc.......

Just not sure the dasher could make it there with the velocity, maybe i`ll have to give up on the speed.....

Read the article about VolDoc's triple threat on the home page. He claims 3,400 fps out of, I believe, a 6 dasher? Not sure how hes getting those kind of velocities out of that cartridge with that bullet? Longer barrel with high pressures? It can be done with a 6mm Rem. AI but, thats hotter than a .243 Win! Good luck and let us know what you find!

My 6 Dasher will push an 87 V-max to 3150, but that is absolutely max. These bullets are so explosive at this speed I see no reason for more. And my gun will shoot in the .250 range when I do my part. Killed a coyote with it a couple of weeks ago at 580 yds. Expansion was amazing at even at this distance. Whats not to love. Hope this helps. Paul. 8)

Sounds as though you might be looking at a 6-250AI or the 6X47 Lapua to me. Don't know what twist would be best, 12 might be a little slow; I think 11 twist would be ideal. I use 10 twist with that bullet. In 243AI have gotten above 3600 with it.

Not sure about the speeds with the 87`s but them boys kill PD`s way out there!!!
Yes they do!
I got my VHA 1000 kill with a straight BR shooting 87's vmaxs in very few rounds!

The 6xc might(??) get you close to the speed you're after..... with a long enough barrel and no more than a 9 or 10twist barrel. WD
