260. Or 260 AI. Mostly AI. I've always felt the AI's are better for your brass after initial fireforming. Drawback to AI is fireforming. JMO. You will get 89 1/2 replies saying I'm wrong!! Ha ha

Let me start by saying that I'm no rookie to this crazy sport.
I'm torn on the caliber I'm leaning towards....therefor I won't mention what that is. I will be clanging steel from 100 yards to 1200 yards. I'm looking for the most ACCURATE round that will provide the following, while still keeping great accuracy.
1. Good barrel life. (more than 1000 rounds)
2. Good Accessibility of reloading supplies.
3. Doesn't have such a violent recoil.
Must be able to fit in a short action.
6.5x47 Lapua is my pick.
That is about where I'm at!Being a non rookie, you could put just about any of the short action cartridges on pieces of paper , put them in a hat, and pull one out.... Bingo... you would have your lucky winner....
I would look closely at the 6.5 Creedmoor and the 243 or the shorter version Creedmoor necked down which is essentially a 250 savage necked down to 6mm. Depending on the weight of the platform lots of cartridges to choose from.
