What are you working on this winter?

Yeah, no kidding. This rifle has been great all along, but of course they all are, or they wouldn't be allowed to live here! Hope to see you heal up and back shooting soon.

Tom
Thanks, I had planned to come out and shoot with yall in June. Probably won’t make it but definitely next year!

Yes, I hear you're pretty "handy" with a table saw. You can help me with a fence project when you come up!
And BTW, Alex was kind enough to share the photo while I was eating my lunch....something tells me that was his intention!

James–

Howdy!

Is your custom Model 7 action set-up as single shot w/ a fixed feed ramp?

I too shot a 2oz Rifle Basix on my Wichita WBR 1375 action.
My best friend gave me a 2oz a Jewel for free, and it is a notably better
trigger. He also let me try his 2oz Bix & Andy, and Ooooh boy.... is THAT a great trigger !

I'm hoping my barrel from Southern Precision shows up in the next week or so. I just wish I didn't have such a non shooting work load piled up.

Barrel showed up this afternoon. The workmanship is superb.

Thanks Ken at Brux.
Thanks Greg and guys at Southern precision.

I finally got it done. I have to buff the top and maybe another coat of oil. I sanded to 600 grit. It's got a sheen to it. Mesquite with Turquoise inlay.

Look at the profile of the top and see if it reminds you of anything. It's just the way the bookmatched boards landed.

So far this winter I've been working on replacing all the broken appliances (washing machine in Dec, grill in Jan, refrigerator in Feb...not sure what's next). Had a deer run into my Jeep last month, had to fix that. Still need to figure out my dead wire-welder, replace the carb on my old 4-wheeler. Its been a damn expensive year so far! Been trying to play with the Tikka practical rifle on occasion.

I really like the live edge. Rustic but elegant.
Did you get the wife to lay on the table for the hourglass silhouette?

:eek:I wish she was 9 feet tall! Imagine those legs!;)
Thanks! This was a challenge. Cutting tennons on half logs was new to me. Besides being rusty after the move, all my new equipment was useless for the top. The boards were too heavy to push thru the saw, besides being too hard. I had to use a straight edge and a Skil saw to cut them and clean up with a router. On one of those outside boards, I burned up a new blade in 2 feet. Guys warned me about Mesquite. I believe them now.!
Wifey wanted the live edges and 9 ft. by 5 ft. She left the design to me. I pulled that out of the air.

I thought it looked like the profile of a rimmed rifle case. Doesn't any one see it? Maybe I miss shooting too much! I haven't been in months.

I am sorry to have to tell you this but I see a flaw in it, you may want to start over. I feel for you, a lot of work for nothing. But, I am here to help out. I will, just for you, take it off your hands so you don't have to look at it any more. This will free your mind to produce the perfect table.

Great work, but you will feel better when you build the next one.

Ok! I’ll pack it up. Send me your address. Ups quoted shippng for around $10 grand. I’ll be along as soon as I pack my things.o_O I’ll be running hard and fast. Probably need a doctor when I get there to remove some buckshot.;)

My latest project is a new reloading desk, made out the oak I was going use to build her table. It’s all 1 inch. It should hold up. 30”x 86” top. Two 26” wide 4 drawer cases under each end.

Well with my luck she would track us both down and I don't want to think about what would happen.

That is going to be a great reloading desk. Can't wait to see it when it is done.
