What are you working on this winter?

That’s look really nice. Be sure to post some when finished. I wanna see it with the turquoise in.

L am replacing the flybridge instrument panels on our boat. Over the years equipment has been changed out resulting in patches and some components are getting old. So time to upgrade.
Ordered new Garmin VHF that networks with the rest of my electronics, some new lighted switches and a little rearranging. Should look real nice.

That's gonna match the cutting board real nice!!
I too want to see it when you get done.

You remember that cutting board? So did my wife! She said “I want a really big version of my cutting board.” The twist is more frustrating. Before we left the East, I asked her what wood she wanted her table made in. She said oak, so I loaded up a bunch of Oak I had on the moving truck. We get out here and she starts thinking and changes her mind! She wants Mesquite with turquoise inlay!

Stock work, shortening some light recoil rifle stocks so the short-armed Mrs. Fyrewall can use them; also modifying some stocks so they won't bump off my hearing protection muffs - they look sort of funny but work good. Installing Timney triggers on several rifles.

Writing some Excel stuff for record keeping and rifle load stats.

Saving money.

That's because your Texans now.
I'm sure you'll figure something out to do with the oak.

Lou,
It’s a SFP Terminator and it is an excellent scope. The glass (for my eyes anyway) is some of the best that I’ve looked through.

Ron

Good to know Ron. Thanks for the data point.

All of the reviews that I’ve seen on the higher end IORs have been very positive. For some reason the guys over on Snipers Hide bash them any time a question comes up about them, although it is rare that anyone has any actual experience with one of the units in question.

Lou

;):):):)You smart guy! I already have the board for it. She wants a 10’ long sideboard with artsy legs.

I am working on a website for introduction to precision shooting. The format I have chosen is:
- videos of 5-8 minutes covering single topics - i.e. rifle bedding, shoulder bump, bullet seating, FFP vs SFP, shooting practice, etc...
- articles covering the same topic as the video but more in-depth.
- gear review
- competition

No ads, no sponsors. $5\month or $25\year without a recurring fee or auto renewal because I hate it when it happens to me.

I have bought so far for the site specifically:
- DPMS AR15, Barrel, Handguard, Gas block, Trigger, Bipod, Vortex Diamondback 6-24FFP
- DPMS AR10, Barrel, Handguard, Gas Block, Trigger, Bipod, Bushnell Nitro 5-20FFP
- Mossberg Patriot 30-06, Nikon Monarch P5 4-16, APA Little Bastard
- Ruger American 30-06, Nikon Monarch P5 4-16, APA Little Bastard
- Rem 700 short action (.308 bolt face), Blueprinting kit, HS Precision stock - waffling on caliber
- Rem 700 long action (.308 bolt face), HS Precision stock - pretty certain will be 280AI
- Mossberg 464 SPX 30-30
- Ruger Precision Rimfire .22
- Lee, Lyman, and RCBS entry level presses, scales, funnels, trays, hand primers, calipers, blah blah blah.

Just entry level stuff. I hope to get the idea across of accuracy being available in affordable platforms. I will be competing with these rifles this year in different styles of events. A newbie can learn by watching and observe real results and pitfalls, where to put their time and money, and what to expect. I have shot over 2800 rounds in the last 4 (cold) months making groups and improvements. I have also lived in front of cameras and computers for all that time when I wasn't at the range.

I won't be introducing anything new. This is all information that is out there - it's just really really hard to find and tie the whole concept together. I came up with this idea when I wished that it would have been out there when I started. I found out, after hundreds of hours of video, reloading, wrench turning, and $13000 and rising why it isn't. I am not doing comparisons or head to head testing - this site is primarily about mechanics which is why I am using common and entry-level gear.

Surprise - a box stock DPMS Panther Oracle shooting steady and repeatable 1/2" groups with a scope and reloaded ammo.
Not a Surprise - The Mossy and Ruger 06's with the same bullet, brass, powder and primer, 24" bbls, have very different reloading recipes.
Reloading with entry-level presses and equipment... It's really hard not to pick it up and move over to my bench sometimes!

coming soon - Shootistry.com

Next step will be to test 31.04 gr. and 30.60 gr., another promising node, with 5 shot groups and multiple seating depths. At that point I should be pretty close to a load with this Roy Hunter bullet. Then if I’m not happy, I’ll see if it likes another bullet better.

Dave.
Got one Dasher barrel tuned with Little Hunters and Varget. Got 2 more Dasher barrels to go. One heavy gun 300 WSM barrel broke in and needed to prep some new brass, and will start on next 300 WSM barrel. You Shooters in PA and West Va better look out this shooting season. "MISSISSIPPI"

Heck, I’d take your fourth string rifle then! (If your not using it)

See you in SD.

Dave.

I'm hoping my barrel from Southern Precision shows up in the next week or so. I just wish I didn't have such a non shooting work load piled up.

I need to send you my first string(and only) rifle for you to tune that good while I’m down;). Great target !

Yeah, no kidding. This rifle has been great all along, but of course they all are, or they wouldn't be allowed to live here! Hope to see you heal up and back shooting soon.
