What are most reliable, precise and reasonably cost conscious tools to measure primer pocket depth and uniform them?

Old habits hard to break. ;)

If the type of primer matters, and primer seating depth matters, and ignition is affected by firing pin fall, how can a primer pocket full of residue not make a difference?
I didn't use to clean out the primer pockets, in fact, I quit using pins while wet tumbling. One loading session after priming, I looked inside the cases and couldn't see the usual shiny reflection of the anvil. I turned the case over and tapped it onto a piece of paper and got a not insignificant amount (to me) of soot. Then I could see the shiny spot. I thought, hmmm, if the first thing the ignition sees is something a lot less ignitable than powder, how can that not have an impact? So now I use this https://shop.rcbs.com/primer-pocket-brush/ with or without tumbling before resizing. No handle, I just spin the tip in the pocket with my fingers, tap the base on the bench and grab the next case. Takes 5 min per 100.

Personally I would just buy a fixed tool and go to work. If it cuts great, if not then you are good to go. Easy peasy and you didn't have to buy a depth gauge that will probably never be used again.

Even with the best uniformer without measuring...you will leave something on the table. Ive gone through the process too many times.

I think in Bart’s interview he said that the brass grows in the pocket after each firing and that he hit the pockets each time because of that.
