Primer pocket uniformer question

Good evening guys..just a quick question
I purchased some 32-20 wcf starline brass
I would like to uniform the primer pockets. As i can tell the primer setting depth is pretty inconsistent.
Im new to the 32-20 wcf cartridge and from what I have read it is a rifle , and pistol cartridge. So this kind of confused me when it comes to primer pocket uniforming.
If I remember correctly..I can use my small rifle primer pocket uniformer in small pistol primer pocket because they are the same depth ..(is this information correct)
But I can not use a large rifle primer pocket uniformer in a large pistol primer pocket because the depth are different from p
One another ( is this information correct)
That's it..I just can't remember..
Thank you in advance for any information you can share

Uniformers are available in five sizes, one for large rifle, small rifle and/or small pistol, large pistol primer pockets, PPC/BR primer pockets, and BMG primer pockets

Hey bobcat93, I would not uniform the primer pockets on virgin brass. I'm not sure if you said that it was new brass or fired brass? But I once (only once) uniformed some new brass before I shot them and the primers did not seat very well after that. So from then on I waited until the first firing before I uniformed pockets. Makes a big difference to me on longevity of primer pocket fit. IMO

As far as the size of uniformer to use (dept and dia.) I would have to do research on the 32-20 wcf, because I'm not familiar with that cartridge.

If you are doing the flash holes though, I think that there are only 2 types, regular and PPC size. I do not think that your brass flash holes are PPC size. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

It has been once fired.
And I agree. I like to wait 2 or three firings before trimming primer pockets ..it gives the brass time to settle down..

Are small rifle, and small pistol primer pockets the same depth..

Well I know for sure that the small rifle primer pocket uniformer is the same for small rifle and PPC brass, because they both take small rifle primers. Now if you want to talk about flash holes, that's another thing, but you haven't said anything in reference to flash holes yet. conaso

Sorry, but that's incorrect. A small rifle uniformer will not reach the bottom of a PPC/BR pocket. That's why Sinclair sells a different uniformer and a lot of us have one.

Not sure how my pocket uniformer has been working all these years on my BR's and Dasher's. Will look into the dept difference.

Your right Dave Berg. The Small Rifle and PPC/BR uniformer are the same diameter, however the difference is in the depth of the cutting surface. The PPC will cut a few thousandths deeper, on average the small rifle will cut down to .120" and the PPC/BR will cut to .122" to accomodate the specifications on the PPC flash hole. Thanks

I use a small rifle pocket uniform/ for a small pistol primer pocket uniformer according to the chart posted..
I am not messing with the flash holes..

Ok I stand corrected. There are 5 uniformers, never have I known about a PPC/BR difference of .002" deeper. Not much, but still different.
