What ammo boxes to buy?

I am reloading for my 6.5x284 and I'm in need of ammo boxes that the 6.5 will fit in.
Before I buy the wrong ones I thought I would ask some more experienced Shooters what they use and where do yall buy them at? All help will be appreciated!

I use the 100 round boxes with handles & the 50 round boxes. Here is a link to find out the proper box.

If you can swallow the price I really like the Tab Gear bullet binders, they only hold 40 rounds though. I use those for competition days. For testing the MTM boxes serve me well.

Whichever one you settle on, make sure it has hinges for the top and not the folded plastic that hold the top in the back. They last for a while, but ultimately will tear as render the box useless. My hinged boxes have lasted me a ton a years.

+1 on the hinges.

Plano makes a real nice 50 round box, but they have two tabs for opening. If you are holding the box with one hand, you need two thumbs on the other hand to get it open.

The MTM 50 rounders with the hinges and a single tab are my favorites.

My vote for mtm hinged, maybe check out a magnum type case with a long seat on the bullet in the 284 might be a little wobbly but some padding glued in the lid might help.

I've been using the Lapua brass boxes, they come with a cartridge stabilizing insert in the lid.

I use them to transport my ammo to the range and download them into my match cartridge holder.

MidWays brand of boxes. Use the COAL for the correct "height" but the boxes for the "06" should work fine. That's what I use for 284 based cartridges. Never had any issues with hinges nor any other nonsense, I buy them by the case lot. If you want put a piece of foam in the top. The 509 boxes (for 308) will work too (depending on the COAL).

CJ, did you have a link or item number? I could only find Cardboard when I searched Midway ammo boxes. Thanks

They may be listed under Frankford Arsenal "now". I'll scan Midways lineup. Just checked, They're listed under Frankford Arsenal. Go to Reloading supplies-Ammo Boxes, scroll down till you find the ones you want. For the 6-284s I use the 308 (509) boxes, for the longer 284 based 6.5s, 284s, 30s, 338s I use boxes for the 30-06 (510).

^^^ Thank you sir
