What 204 Ruger Rifle shall I buy ?

I have the CZ and love it, but I love all my CZs, even though I have a Remington That will out shoot it, the CZ just looks a lot nicer. Carl in Yakima

I have three good ones: a Remington LVSF, the afore-mentioned C-Z Varmint with the (discontinued) H-S Kevlar stock, and a Cooper. All are shooters, but all only marginal with 40 grain bullets; 39 Blitzkings the heaviest for accuracy thanks to the 12-twist barrels.
Overall, out of the suggestions so far, the C-Z Varmint would be my hands-down winner; second might be the Tikka Varmint - which has a reputation for accuracy, too - but doesn't have the single-set trigger, and costs more (if you can find one, especially in stainless). Also, a good used Remington XR-100 might be a (single-shot) option.
You stated that shooting at longer ranges would be the intended use, it should be noted that these .204s really shine in terminal performance and in beating the wind when the heavier bullets are driven hard and fast. You need a long barrel for that; my 26" Cooper is a whole different beast when compared to the 22 in. Remington, and there's a full hundred-yard difference between the two when it comes to anchoring woodchucks, IME. For not much more than the cost of a good off-the-shelf .204, one could build something with a match-grade barrel of decent length, and with a 1:11 or 10 twist to stabilize the 40 gr. bullets.

Thinking of buying a .204 . What rifle ?Used for Squirrels, rabbits at extended ranges .
20-223, brass is cheaper powder is less and if you are lucky you can get a 204 barrel for about 65 dollars and have it set back. I did and now have 2.. night even sell the one I don't shoot because it is in the back of the safe.. greg

I have a Savage mod 12 FCV, with DBM, accutrigger and accustock. 26" fluted barrel.. Shoots little bitty groups. I am selling it to buy a CZ.. Why you ask. I need a cannon carriage to move the thing around..

I also love my 20 practical's but when it comes to 204's the Remington xr 100--- shoot the factory barrel out then put on a nice kreiger, it is hard to beat, solid single shot action w/ 40x trigger and the thumb hole stock helps with hand fatigue on 3 day varmint shoots

Just last may I decided to buy a 204 and went with the Tikka T3. It was a good choice. The action is smooth as silk and it shoots under 1" when I do my part. I figure I'll have my gunsmith put a barrel on it and take my brother P.D. shooting.

Try to find a Remington XR-100 in the 204. Now that is a shooter for a factory rifle!

I had one in 204 when they 1st became available had it rechambered to 20 Practical because of the rarity of brass had it stolen August of 2015 . I was lucky enough to fine another one early this year and both of these rifles would shoot less than .4

Sold a Remington LSVF to my brother, he won't sell it back, my mistake. I also have a Tikka T3. I like the Tikka, accurate, smooth and light. My buddy has a CZ version, it shoots one hole 5 shot groups with 39ers. Any of those three would be my preference. Never have been able to develop any fondness for Savages, I know they are accurate, just can't find the love.
