Wet tumbling ?

My old (mid 1980s) Thumbler would leak a little, I made a secondary gasket for the cover out of a piece of material that you line your toolbox drawer with. No leaks now, just used it has afternoon to clean some used brass I bought so I could do a cursory inspection prior to loading for the first time.

The dumb thing I did with one of my Thumlers is pull the rubber bucket out every time to make sure the steel outer bucket didn't have moisture trapped in it and rust.

I ended up geting tears in the top corners of the rubber liner from pulling it out. I had the hardest time trouble shooting those leaks. I replaced the rubber liner and quit pulling it out.

Thumbler's Model B High Speed still in use. All original parts. Never a leak. Use larger wingnuts with brass inserts like mentioned but only for use. The old metal wing nuts work too. I still have the old dual drum Harbor Freight I started on. Those still work and never have leaked either.

rub a little dawn dish soap all over the seal right before putting the lid on, works well for spin on caps or did with my National Metallic Rotary Case Tumbler but I only needed to do that the first few uses.

On my Frankford wet tumbler barrel I coat both sides of the lid gaskets with water and tighten the lids with as much force as I can comfortably exert by hand. It does not leak when I do that. If I don't do that, it can leak.

I used my FA mini tumbler with SS pins today, first time in 6 months or so, I just wet the rubber gasket with water from the tap after I filled up the container, snugged it down by hand, no leaks at all today.

what I have been using for wet tumble is a older version of Thumler's tumbler, have a big and small drum . IF,,, ya don't get the rim clean it will leak . its just a matter of removing the big O ring to find what went wrong . I'm not a oh its got to be shinny or I cant use it kind of shooter . its a time thing

Looks good Monte. I tried all kinds of stuff, I think my best is with pocket change. Load up the thing with your bunch of pocket change and never have to worry about pins stuck in the case. And the good thing is your brass is clean and your dirty money is clean. Works great, try it.

The way the Judicial system is you'll be charged with money laundering....

Never have had any leak issues with my FA. I don't use any media, just hot,hot(120 F) water, lemishine and a little Dawn. Maybe the hot water expands the gasket, I just hand tighten. Removing the lid seems harder than the hand tighten effort? As water cools it contacts, vacuum sealing?

I had to block sand the mouth on the jar. Found 2 low spots that were the cause of leaks. I used 220 wet dry on a granite surface and turned the jar CW/CCW like a washing machine, rotating 90* every 10 cycles until I had an even pattern on the mouth. Use a silver sharpie to see low spots not sanded away yet.
