Western ND Coyotes!

I have family in the western part of ND and we head out that way every year a few times to do some calling.

Only could handle being in the house for so long with everyone, so we spent part of the day on Saturday calling!

Turned out to be a successful day!

the farthest one to the right looks like he has a really nice coat! Great Job! im from dickinson ND and there are coyotes EVERYWHERE! Glad you thinned them out a little.

Nice job... I was out bird hunting in October and saw more coyotes in that area than I have in some time. Even the Antalope are making there way back to the Farm after a huge winter kill a few years back.

What part of the State did you clean up these hoodlums? Im sure you saw a lot of wildlife in that half a day. Sure do miss that.
Hand call or electronic?

Again nice take.

He did have very nice fur. I think I may hang on to that one, the fur buyers won't get him!

We saw quite a few deer both whitetail and mule deer. Not much for antelope, they were never REAL thick up there though.

All mouth calls, I'm not a huge fan of electronic calls, unless we are trying to call a cat. I haven't figured out a real good way to keep the movement down.

We were hunting East of Watford City ND

Wow, looks like the dogs down there have cleaned up a little. A few years ago there was quite a bit of mange down there. Here in the NE corner of ND i'm seeing about 50% mange in the coyotes. It ranges from thin stomach hair to no hair, some are down right ugly.

Keep shooting em!

Yeah a few years ago it was ridiculous out there. Mange on almost everything we shot, not so much now days, but the fur isn't like the coyotes on the East and Central part of the state in my opinion.

Id say the fur quality is better from central nd on west. I have compared an easten nd dog with a nw nd dog. Hands down the coyotes out west are much nicer color and thickness as well as length. Just nice western heavies.

Life lesson #479.....always carry a gun!

well technically we had an iron sight muzzleloader but they were out of range. Building a 270 wsm (after my 284 win build is done) for long range coyote hunting so they will almost never be outta rage. ;)
