Twice that "gold" members made a commitment to purchase then backed out. If you don't want it or are hesitant DON'T make the commitment. First one was a few months ago on a gun, I removed the scope and rings and had started packaging it up and just like the second one "a friend found a better deal", if this is you your word means nothing. Am I being hard? Probably, but if you are hesitating just say "let me thing on it", the second one was the same only this time a March HM for $2700 new that a friend found, well, that is fine but you had made a comment so being the dumb guy I am I take you at your word. Both were "gold" members and both said "a friend"

Frustrating as hell I agree. I have a $2600 gun deal thats pending that was done on another forum. He asked if he could pay in four installments over four months. First 3 he paid, now the last one is pushing two months overdue with no word from him.

This year more than the last few, My customers regular and new have been doing the same thing. I have stopped ordering with out payment in full, And am thinking of a deposit before I schedule an appointment. To be fair it has made me a bit over cautious buying anything for myself.

I’ve only had one guy back out of a deal here. Swore he would buy a Borden 6ppc/Leonard stock in 4 months. Sent him a PM, four months later and got crickets. Never heard from him again. I didn’t hate at the guy. I worried that maybe he died.

I've had that happen several times on this board. You get the "I'll take it" and a follow up PM where mailing info is exchanged and then nothing. The last one earned himself a good a$$ chewing for being incredibly disrespectful of another persons time and effort. Do you remember that one Captain? I had the goods boxed up and addressed ready to go and it was a total waste of time. Those guys need a nice 180 day ban and no access to the classifieds. I have absolutely zero patience for people who don't honor their commitments.

I wouldn't mail back anything. Down payments are generally Nonrefundable. It's the cost of wasting your time. Brian.

How many of your "friends" agree to a proposed hunt that requires much planning and a reasonable deposit, only to hear all the excuses (my aunt Tilly died) right when you need the down payments to be sent out?

I used to lay out the deposits for some guys but once I got stung, I stopped that practice.

Been here 15 years and had my first (non)issue today. Silver member gave me several "I'll take it" posts followed by either questions or "I will think about it" posts and texts over the last week or so. Reneged AGAIN 15 min ago.

That`s exactly why I stopped hunting with anyone other than my father and son. When you can`t count on a friend, are they really a friend? Jeff

If they are GOLD/SILVER members here I have ALWAYS shipped befor getting payment. On the other hand I NEVER expect someone to ship to me without payment or check clearance. Just how I am.
